Loved Ones

Joshua James Henson (Josh) passed away on March 21, 2020. He was 40 years of age.

Josh was born in San Diego, California on April 30th, 1979 to John Henson and Diana Henson Roark. At an early age he moved to St. Cloud, Florida, where he continued to reside until his death.

As a child, Josh was intelligent, imaginative, good-natured, and thoughtful. His childhood delights included Superman Underoos, anything Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Garfield comic books, to name only a few.

As a teenager, he developed an interest in playing music. Josh was a natural musician, picking up guitar and bass with little effort. He developed a distinct vocal style that expressed genuine emotion and frustration, traits he would later incorporate into his songwriting as well. Over the years, he became an integral part of numerous original music projects in central Florida including Popsicle Dynamite and The Supervillians.

As an adult, his intellect and passion forged an engaging and dynamic persona. An enthusiastic conversationalist, Josh was eager to share ideas and feelings about his many interests which ranged from politics and sociology to comic books and coffee.

In December of 1999, he became a father to a beautiful baby girl. She was always the light of his life.

Incredibly, during the daunting early years of parenting he successfully earned his Bachelor's degree in psychology. The great irony being that his own struggle with mental illness was becoming more pronounced during that same period.

Sadly, that struggle persisted throughout the second half of his life. It would prove to be a long and difficult battle, hard fought by both Josh and his family. Those close to him during his last year were witness to unbearable pain and suffering. Josh ended his own life on March 21, 2020.

He no longer suffers. He is no longer in pain.

Josh is survived by his daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, two stepbrothers, aunt, cousin, nephews, ex-wife, and countless friends.  He departs this world loved and treasured beyond his own reckoning.

Epitaph by Merrit Malloy When I die, give what’s left of me away To children and old people who wait to die. If you need to cry, Cry for your brother and sister Walking the street beside you. And when you need me, Put your arms around anyone and Give them what you need to give to me. I want to leave you something, Something better than words or sounds. Look for me in the people I’ve known or loved. If you cannot give me away, At least let me live in your eyes, And not in your mind. You can love me most By letting hands touch hands, By letting hearts touch hearts, And by letting go of Spirits who need to be free. Love does not die, bodies do. So, when all that’s left of me is love, Give me away.

I cared about you instantly. I still do. Always will. I can still feel you... I am receiving your messages and signs. They are greatly appreciated. I am still having trouble saying goodbye to that part of you... Acceptance can be hard. Everyone wishes you peace and love. And enjoy the light! It suits you well, I'd imagine
