I will be forever grateful and blessed to have had the luxury of Joe's generous love and friendship these past 23 years. Joe was my most trusted and closest friend. We shared many memorable moments over almost a quarter century with our families, soccer days, celebrations at birthdays, holidays, and other family event gatherings. We loved to BBQ and shared so many great cooks with friends and our community. We played and competed at disc golf tournaments for almost 11 years together and enjoyed so many awesome community serving opportunities doing BBQ and sharing the great sport of disc golf and holding events with various charity organizations. Joe was selfless and always eagerly jumped to help others. I have met many incredible men of various personalities and backgrounds throughout my life and Joe stands tall among them. His undying love of God and family, and simple acceptance and respect of all people were the most significant of his character. He loved the simple things and appreciated all that so many often miss along their journey… especially joy and laughter. Joe understood life and the importance of love for all. We shared years of serving as brother Knights of Columbus at Holy Disciples Catholic Church and Joe always modeled servant leadership on so many projects from repairing peoples property, fundraising for various council charity support efforts, cooking BBQ for disc golf, youth groups and other church events or anything else that came his way. We had many long and memorable laughs and enjoyed our love of beer, food, countless fun conversations dissecting this crazy life and pursuing debatable topics "down to the ridiculous" - one of Joe's signature coined phrases. I admired his adoring love and care he took for "mom" who shared his love for baseball and ice cream. Joe was a dedicated husband to his best friend and wife Mary, a wonderful, loving father to his kids that he was so very, proud of, blessed to be a grandfather, and a loyal brother who cherished Bob and Dave. Joe was a gentle giant, a great friend, a caring listener, a loving man with a gift that brightened so many people's lives like he did mine and he did so in a most wonderful and extraordinary way. I think about Joe every single day and will surely miss him and could never forget the mark he left on us all. Until we meet again brother… Cheers to you buddy, thank you for your amazing, selfless gift of love, you did well mano!... enjoy your rightful place at the table. Rest in Peace with mom and pops Billy.

Please accept my apologies, I am struggling to express in words what I feel. I am greatly and sincerely grieved at Joseph's passing. Our family - all of our family - Plummer's, Edmondson's, Kundis's, Anderson's, and all others; Joseph was not only one of my dear cousins, along with his brothers Robert and David, he and his brothers and their families were my best friends as well; when the Kundis family lived on 6521 Espanita St. in Long Beach, CA, I have many fond memories of all of our families (Plummer's, Edmonson's, and Kundis's, gathering for holiday & family celebrations at our home, or Uncle Bob and Aunt Jo's, or Jerry and Margaret's homes...I remember when Joseph's Little League baseball team, the Cubs, came to our house to swim in our pool, and my Father, Robert Francis Kundis, took it upon himself to teach Tony Gwynn (yes, THAT Tony Gwynn, legendary Hall-Of-Fame San Diego baseball player) to swim in our pool. I remember the first time Joseph brought Mary to our house; they were in high-school at St. Anthony's at the time, and she became part of our family...they were not yet married, but I think everyone just knew in their hearts that it would be so. Within that same time frame, Joseph was playing quarterback at St. Anthony's and was excited to show me his football helmet with the new state-of the-art padding technologies of self-enclosed air-foam-water helmet pads. Cousin Dave came over in the afternoons after school and shot hoops with me in our driveway. Our families have always been very close, and important to each one of us. We all had countless adventures together over the years...my Mother Sally, my sister Robin, me, and cousin Dave picking up sister Rosemary in the Greyhound Bus Station in LA in the middle of the night - (bless you, Dave, a bit of a nervous situation, thanks for coming with us); LA Dodgers baseball games with sister Robin and cousins Robert, David and Joseph; they were the first ones to show Robin & I the ribbon tied around the palm tree beyond the bleachers in left field where Willie Stargell's HR hit; visiting sister Rosemary, her husband Gary, and their two daughters Desiree and Kimberly in Las Vegas; racquetball at the Rossmore Racquetball Courts; varying combinations of Joseph, David, family friend Brian (Moe) English and other family members and friends attending music concerts all over Southern CA together. The last time I visited Joseph & Mary was at their home in Puyallup, WA, and, bless their hearts, they took me everywhere and paid for everything. I was originally scheduled to visit Joseph & Mary 2 years ago in Puyallup, but work constraints prevented me...if I knew then how things would go, I would have made the journey...Joseph always had the kindest heart towards everyone he met, and I believe he instilled that attitude with everyone he came in contact with. In my heart, Joseph will forever remain a dearly loved family member, cousin, friend, and loved one; in my opinion, his passing is FAR too premature; I thought we would have many more years to grow old and spend time together, and I am greatly grieved. If I find solace in any of this, I believe the Lord God in Heaven is in charge, and He knows the time of our passing, and He is the Authority of all things... Joseph - I love you, I miss you...Mary, Courtney, Jacob, Sarah, Steven, Bob, Dave, spouses, children and loved ones - my sincerest love, prayers, and all that I have within in me is with you during this time; I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU
