“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always caring about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Jordan Matthew Rodarte was born on September 11, 1985 in Prescott, Arizona, to parents Lisa andMatthew. While Jordan was born two weeks past his due date, he came into this world at full sprintcompelled to make up for lost time. An adventurous young boy with an impulsive disposition, Jordan usedhis intrinsic curiosity to conquer life - and while rattlesnakes and black widows were picked up andexamined closely, consequences were not. He was fearless.

In 1989, Lisa and Matthew moved their family to Southern California, where Jordan and his two brothers Aaron and Collin would grow up. Jordan attended Aliso Niguel High School, where he excelled as a varsity wrestler. Although the youngest and smallest among his friends, Jordan went on to become a 4-time varsity letterman, winning many of Southern California’s toughest tournaments. He was ambitious.

Despite calling Southern Orange County his Home, Jordan’s curiosity led him toward convivialadventures. He traveled the world, cultivating strong bonds with the people and places he encountered, such as Thailand. What started as a 7-week trip, quickly turned into a 7-month exploration. Jordan alsofound work alongside his adventures; from surveying for the pipeline companies in Minnesota with his friends, to helping his father restore properties from the devastation caused by wildfires in Northern California. He was dynamic.

Jordan’s dreams were big. From age nine, he knew he wanted to be in uniform. He often wrote of hisambitions of being an EMT or a firefighter, and most of all his aspiration of fighting for his country as aMarine. Jordan loved fiercely and unconditionally. He was intensely loyal to his family and friends, andmost of all to the Lord. When Jordan faced his struggles through darker times, his faith helped him pullthrough. He also wrote about his pursuit of a fulfilling life – one of marriage, children, and God. He fought hard. On his good days, Jordan captivated the attention of every room he walked into through his wit, humor, and charisma. If you knew Jordan, you knew his hugs were healing. He was magnetic.

“To say we will miss you, Jordan, is an understatement. Your larger-than-life presence, your handsomesmile, and your kind heart; our lives will never be the same without these. But we are confident that you are Home with the Lord now – whole, healed, and set free from the chains of addiction. We will love you all the days of our lives, son, and then into eternity. Until we meet again…”- Lisa & Matthew Rodarte

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you knowthat the testing of your faith develops perseverance.”James 1:2

As I fondly recall the moments filled with love and laughter we shared, today weighs heavily on my heart. The void left by your absence is immense. While I never imagined the light you brought into people's lives changing the way it has, I know you are still shining down upon us. Love you, cuz.

"So I wrote your name in my heart, and that is where it will stay, always." We are profoundly saddened by your death and are trying to find some comfort in the many beautiful memories of times we spent together. We will never forget your incredible smile, charismatic laugh, and amazing spirit. Your time with us was too short and we will miss you so much. We love you so much and pray you are at peace.

I had the pleasure of coaching Jordan in wrestling . What impressed me the most was the intensity that he brought and the bond that was shared by all his friends on the team . I would really like to try and make it out there. If I am unable to make it, I'm sure you'll see plenty of examples of those friends that were there long before wrestling as well as those made through wrestling. I wish there were words that could take away some of the pain. I would hope that you could take some comfort by seeing exactly how many lives Jordan influenced for the better.
