Jong Hyo Marina Kim, beloved by many, went to be with God on June 8, 2020 at the age of 76 surrounded by her children from stage IV metastatic lung cancer. She is survived by her daughter Meg, son-in-law Alex, son Kenny, daughter-in-law Meena, and many nephews & nieces. She was born in Juhn Nam Hwasoon Goon on January 3, 1944 to Yun Heung Park and Chuh Rae Koo. She was the youngest of 8 siblings, six brothers and one sister, who predeceased her. After graduating from Juhn Nam Gwang Joo Sah Bum School, she taught elementary school students before she married Duck Soo Kim on January 6, 1969. They immigrated to Chicago in 1984 with their daughter and son. She made endless sacrifices for her children and husband but most of all devoted her life to God after being baptized on October 20, 2003 and confirmed on July 20, 2005 at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Des Plaines, IL. She served God and her church in many capacities including Vice President of Legio Mariae from January 2009 to May 2018. She also volunteered several years cooking for Chong Hasang Eun Chong Senior School. She was passionate about praying and loved having fellowship with friends over a cup of McDonald's coffee. She will forever be remembered as a superb cook and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. When scheduled, a memorial service date will be announced in the near future. Meanwhile, memories and condolences may be shared on GatheringUs.

I can not believe that I have to bid farewell to one of the strongest women that I know. I can't dare to imagine her life. But I could feel her spiritual strongness and her commitment to family whenver we met. Meg and Kenny, I respectfully offer my deepest condolences. May God give her the peace... Love, Jin as one of Young ouk familiy.
