John Patrick Teotico
March 25th, 1959 - February 23rd, 2021
March 25th, 1959 - February 23rd, 2021
I’M FREE Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call: I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found my place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too shall miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow: I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savoured much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my life seemed all too brief: Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me; God wanted me now, He set me free.
John “Tico” Patrick Teotico was a caring son, brother, father, Tito, and friend. He left this world suddenly on February 23, 2021 at age 61. He was born to Genaro and Emilia Teotico on March 25, 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida.
After graduating from Castle Park High School (Chula Vista, CA), John completed his Bachelors degree in Accounting from San Diego State University. John chased his dreams in the financial world. John held positions as a Controller, VP and Chief Financial Officer where he managed all of the financial, administrative, and human resource functions of various companies. He worked in a variety of industries including an American Florist, technology, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, an automotive buying portal and consumer information website, and most recently for a data and insight-driven marketing agency. John has been recognized as a CFO finalist by the San Diego Business Journal multiple times over the years, and his devotion to the companies he worked with have helped them with a successful IPO or acquisition, and grow exponentially in the last decade.
John loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for family and friends. He was well known for hosting Manny Pacquiao boxing and Superbowl parties. John loved gardening and truly had a green thumb. His gardens were filled with herbs, succulents, tropical plants and bonsais. John played the flute and was in the marching band in high school. He was very active and loved golfing, hiking and running.
John’s support as a major sponsor and donor over the years to the “Annual FACES Scholarship Golf Tournament” has made a positive impact on the many young lives of well deserving high school graduates in their pursuit of higher education to their College or University of choice. FACES, is an acronym for (Filipino-American Communication Employees), which is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) employee group of AT&T. John supported the Lost in America Foundation to eliminate youth homelessness in America by bringing to light the issue on a national level. Through the use of media, publicity, and awareness campaigns, they aim to fight the ignorance that surrounds the issue of youth homelessness so that a national conversation can be created on how to end youth homelessness.
John is survived by his two sons, Austin and Christian, daughter, Lauren, and stepdaughters and their spouses, Alicia & Sean and Amanda & Max; his parents, Gener & Mely Teotico; his siblings and their spouses, Gerry & Pamela Teotico, Melissa & Edward Triebell, Darlene & Rob Wentworth; and 3 nephew, 6 nieces and 4 grandnieces.
A Celebration of Life with Prayers and Remembrances beginning at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass is scheduled at 10:30am on March 26, 2021 at St. Therese of Carmel Catholic Church in San Diego, CA. The entire liturgy will be live streamed/video streamed: https://www.sttheresecarmel.org/live-stream.
In lieu of flowers at the church, donations may be sent to the Lost in America Foundation, https://www.lostinamericafoundation.org/

Dear Teotico Family, I just realized that your wonderful John (Tico) passed two years ago. I am so sorry to learn of this and from perspective John was one exceptional man. A dear friend of my cousin (Sean Duggan), Sean felt as though he was part of the Teotico family. Sean and Tico had a special relationship which continued long after Sean's passing. Tico, thanks for being a great man, wonderful friend and gentleman. May God bless you and your family. I hope to meet you again at Heaven's Gate. Semper Fidelis, Frank and Linda Duggan

My heart aches that you are no longer with us, John... So many fond memories from college including when a group of us celebrated my 18th birthday at Farrell’s... times hanging out at the East Commons between classes... then decades passed without seeing each other... it didn’t matter since you were still the same sweet, kind and thoughtful guy! It was great catching up with you at Boogie Nights in 2017. Now you’re in heaven bringing joy to everyone there! I can see you jammin’ now and celebrating your birthday today! Happy birthday!!! You would have been 62 today. We all miss you here, but we hope and pray that our paths will cross again. As the Billy Joel song goes, “Only the good die young...” We love you, John! May God bless you always and may you rest in peace! Love, Paz
