John Stanley Sharp

John Stanley Sharp, 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went home to be with his Savior on Monday, March 26th 2018, at his home surrounded by 3 generations of his family, after fighting illness for many years. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1945. John was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1971, before his marriage of 39 years to his beloved wife Nancy (Norman) Sharp. He is survived by his 2 sons, John Mark and wife, Shonna (Brackett) Sharp; and Carl William and wife Tiffaney (Huddleston) Sharp; 4 grandchildren, Carson, Chance, Caden, and Cora Lou; cousins, Jane Ann McGee, Caroline Burkey, Tom Shoun; special friends, Mike Smith, Larry Smith, and Richard Browning. John had a long career with Norfolk Southern railroad as a conductor. His family was always his priority, and nothing lit his life like his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved his daughter in laws, more like his own flesh and blood daughters and said they were the girls that he always wanted. He never met a stranger, and everyone he met knew and loved him almost instantly. John was a member of Eastwood Baptist church in Knoxville, Tn. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Stanley, mother, Lucy (Bales) Sharp and Aunt, Nelle Crenshaw. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 5 – 7 pm with a funeral service to follow at 7 pm officiated by Reverend Michael Towler and Reverend Michael Sledge at Eastwood Baptist Church, 2808 French Broad Lane, Knoxville, Tennessee 37914. The family will gather at 11:15 am for an 11:30 am interment on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
