John, otherwise known to the Irish as JD, has touched the lives of so many with his powerful, thoughtful, and sometimes humorous words, his acts of generosity, and his commitment to love and service. Please use this page as an opportunity to share your own memory or story. John loved stories, especially his own tall tales, and to honor him, I'd like all of you to offer your own special experiences with John so that each of us can read them, continuing to spread the love he ceaselessly promoted.

Thinking about you today my friend. Thankful and grateful for the time we were able to spend together on this earth.

John died after I moved out of California. I always looked forward to hearing from and talking with him. He is one of the kindest souls I've ever met. He is loved and missed. I am a better man for having known him. God bless. R.I.P. Looking forward to seeing you again.

When John and Patti first moved to San Jose I had the privilege of attending a small Friday night BB study with them for several years. John was passionate and serious about the program. His shares about the BB readings always revealed so much depth and the connections he made were often surprising yet spot-on. John had a very sweet and playful manner and his kindness always shone through. We shared an H&I commitment at the Palo Alto VA Hospital for several years and he was always very enthusiastic to take meetings there. After I moved back to LA about 18 months ago he would send random texts to say hi and see how I was doing. John was a true icon. I always thought of him as part brilliant professor, buddhist monk and christian minister all rolled into one person. His kindness and friendship will be missed. Sending much love to Patti and the family. RIP JD.

Although we were the same age, by the time we met in cyberspace I could see JD’s body was already being whittled away. The superfluous was being eliminated. All that was left were the initials: JD. Like a memory carved into the trunk of a tree in Tullamore. JD hearts ❤️ AA. The proportion of breath to body, soul to flesh in him increased over the year we shared. The year of living contagiously. By the end, he was pretty much all spirit. Breath blew through him like a whistle. Whenever I heard him share in here, in this non-physical realm of pixels and sound waves and quantum leaps, the strength of his spirit outshone and eclipsed his dwindling flesh. He had become enthusiasm incarnate. He shouted his love from the rooftops. He was a fool for love! Head over heels for AA. AA ❤️ JD. I never heard him complain. He never came into these rooms to dump his shit and expect others to deal with it. There must have been shit & pain & sorrow & grief but I never saw or heard it expressed by him. JD’s last words to me were in a text written March 1st, a handful of days before he died. “Its a tough one C. Thank you”. Its a tough one, so what? He was a tough guy! A biker, for Christ’s sake! In this program we take the tough with the tender; they go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other. Tough and tender, body and soul. But what we learn, what we hope, what we aspire to say as we expire is what JD said at the end of that text: THANK YOU! May we all learn to say those words as well as him . Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
