I'm sorry to hear of John's passing. He had a great Witt, fun personality, and was ever so talented. His art work around the country will be great reminders of his talent. My heart goes out to Kathryn Conklin Land, and Jerrie Conklin.

My two favorite memories with Uncle John are: The night he had my brothers, dad, and I over to eat chili and play poker for pennies. He bought us real poker visors that we got to keep, and tried to make the dining room feel like a casino. I remember winning several times and it never even occurred to me that they were letting me win. We also got to keep the pennies! The other is the first time I can remember really working hard. Uncle John hired me to come over and help with yard work, and he showed no mercy. That's the first time I remember feeling that total exhaustion but deep satisfaction that only that kind of work can give. That's also the first time I ate mustard on a burger without bitching, and maybe the last!

John was a very talented craftsman. The work he did on my BBQ grills inspired me to learn to weld. RIP John.
