One of my favourite photos - himself posing in the shade at Perth market in 1997 (I think) the year I went to visit and stayed with him in Fremantle. Thanks to his dear friend, brother and partner in crime Stewart Woods for this ❤️Xx

My deepest condolences to all John's family and friends on the sad news of John's passing. I met John in Fremantle long ago and we traded and travelled together both in Scotland and Australia. We had many adventures and his mischiefness and kindness, his smile, songs and chatter always put everyone we met at-ease. Loving John was instant and he was a generous and patient teacher during that fleeting time we walked together. Thank you John for your hugs. Heart broken for our loss right now. One story from Melbourne, we sat at a roadside table having coffee one day and a wee lad came zipping past running straight towards the highway. John leapt out of his chair and grabbed him just as the speedy boy got onto the road. Saved his life just quietly. Turned out no one knew who the little fella belong to so we eventually had to call the police and they took him away.

John was, in many ways, a one off. He was a unique individual who was always fun to be around He had a serious side too and I remember long conversations into the night He was a beautiful soul But where did he get that white suit I'm sure he found his Brand New Day
