February 24th, 1961 - October 15th, 2025
He was a Good Monkey.
Joe Edward Gaillard was born on Friday, February 24th 1961, to Helen Lois Landreth and Robert "Bob" Lee Gaillard. He passed away on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, at 64 years old.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the fourth of five children. Despite dropping out of high school in his junior year, Joe went on to get his GED, contractor's license, and real estate license. He had an exceptionally strong work ethic, sometimes holding multiple jobs at once. He worked for Michelin and BMW for 20 years, before transitioning into construction. He had a passion for building and repairing houses, and worked as an independent contractor. He went on to work as a building inspector and contractor for different companies. He would volunteer these skills by doing house repairs for senior citizens in his community.
Joe spent much of his time studying the Bible. He completed the Bible Training Institute at Tomlinson College, graduating in 1986. He taught Sunday School and was a youth leader. Later in life, he would spend time studying Greek and Hebrew along with multiple translations of the Bible. He witnessed to countless men and helped lead them to Christ over the years.
His greatest hobby was street and stage magic, and he was an avid magician. He often did shows for charity as well as side gigs. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians local group, Ring 63 and served as their president for a year.
He married Shannon Hunt in 1980 and had two daughters, Faith and Amanda Jo. He was dedicated to providing for his family, enabling his wife to be a stay at home mom in their early years. No matter if he was working first shift, third, or swing, he always made time for his girls. He was a dedicated band dad, assistant coach, and pusher of Girl Scout cookies.
He is survived by his former spouse, Shannon, his children, Faith Kennett (Charlie) and Amanda Gaillard (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Joseph and Lucy Pearl Kennett; four siblings, and multiple nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Bob Gaillard and his mother, Lois Mason.

Rena's Harris
Joe was usher at my first wedding. He, my fiance attended the Dacusville Church of God of Prophecy where we all went. He wore a white tux with green lacy shirt. I remember him hating that but how handsome he looked.
