May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear How much we love and miss you and wish that you were here
Joe David Foster was born August 2nd, 1969, in Heidelberg, Germany, where his father was stationed with the military serving as an MP. He was the second child, and second son, to his parents David and Lorraine Foster. To the surprise of all, on August 2nd, 1969, Joe was not the only child to be born to David and Lorraine that day. His twin sister, Lorrie Kay Foster, was born shortly after Joe.
Joe and Lorrie were born premature, the twin pregnancy a surprise to the Foster family and doctors alike, and with both babies born weighing less than three pounds. After their birth, Joe grew stronger while precious little Lorrie struggled for life and eventually passed on just one day after her birth.
After birth, Joe was taken to the NICU, where he would remain in an incubator for the next month, separated from his twin and mother both for the first time. It was a joyous day when his parents finally held him and brought him home from the hospital. Even though Joe was thriving, the fight for his life wasn't over yet. Only weighing a mere four pounds at the time, Joe required frequent feedings to sustain him, which his parents gladly saw too. With the love and care of his parents, Joe thrived, and it wasn't long before he was running around with his big brother, Robin Eugene Foster.
In March of 1973, Joe's younger brother, Timothy Ray Foster, was born. Then, in January of 1979, Joe's little sister, Sheri Lyn Foster, was born. While Joe loved his two brothers, he was incredibly excited to have a sister again, after the loss of his twin. Even though Joe and Sheri were ten years apart, they were very closing growing up, inseparable even, and Sheri lovingly nicknamed Joe her "JoJo."
Joe attended Pflugerville High school and graduated in 1987. During his high school career, Joe enjoyed close friendships with Shawn Eldridge, Linda Estes, and Micki McDaniel, all of whom he remained friends with until his death. Shortly after graduation, in August of 1988, Joe's son, Nathaniel Chad, was born. Joe was overjoyed to be a father, and Chad became the center of his life. Joe strived to be the best father he could and worked hard to provide for Chad.
As an adult, Joe was hardworking and ambitious, two qualities that lead him to great success in the workforce. Joe began a career in the computer industry, first working for IBM, and later working for Dell Computers, where he stayed on until his health prevented him from working. Joe worked for Dell Computers for over a decade selling computers and software licensing to higher education.
All who knew Joe knew him to be kind, caring, compassionate, and tender. He had excellent fashion sense, was a fantastic home decorator, was exceptionally well organized, was an all-around handyman, and kept the cleanest house around. Joe loved kids, animals, family, and friends. He enjoyed cooking, music, home remodeling, and helping others.
We say goodbye to such a beautiful soul with heavy hearts, but we know it’s only goodbye for now.
