Jim was the best big brother. He looked after us, even when he might have wished that his pesky little sisters and brothers would stop following him around. He was my big-hearted big brother. If I ever felt like a school kid was teasing or hassling me, I would just mention my big brother. Jim was an athlete, a hunter, a cowboy and was well known around our schools. Problem solved. While he was a tough man on the outside, he could quickly melt your heart with his kindness. He would give you anything he had, if you needed it. He might seem quiet, but he could also captivate a room with one of his stories. He loved his family, so much. The pride and joy of his life was wrapped up in his children and grandchildren. What a beautiful family he has! He also loved to tease his nieces and nephews. His soft side was on full display, when he held a baby or placed a tiny child on a horse or a tractor. We would flock to the table for a slice of his brisket or turkey or his pinto beans. If you approached him while he was slicing, you could count on him to sneak a tasty bite to you. Our whole family has been so blessed to build lifelong memories with Jim. He will be so dearly missed.
