Jim Smith

October 28th, 1938 - September 8th, 2022
Beloved Husband, Dad, Uncle, Grandpa, Golfer, Fisherman, Businessman, and so many other special titles, was born in the small northern, lumber town of Westwood, CA on October 28, 1938. We are profoundly heartbroken that he left this life on September 8. Jim wanted to leave Westwood and explore the world so he had his parents approve and sign off on him enlisting in the Marine Corp at age 17, on his birthday. After his service he moved to Southern California and met Nancy, started a career and a family. He was the top sales agent for Allstate for many years, but the sacrifice was he worked long hours. His goal was to make as much money as possible, and fast, with his goal to get out of the "rat race" as soon as he could. He met his goal and, at 49, moved back to "God's Country" to start his life in retirement, and he sure had a nice, long one. He was married for 59 years and would have been 84 on October 28, so we decided to have his service and Celebration of Life on his birthday. He's had some significant events already on his birthday so we are keeping with that. All are welcome to join in both, details are below:
October 28, 2:45 p.m. Sacramento Valley National Cemetary at 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA 95620, short service with military honors.
Celebration of Life immediately following at Karen and Steve Moreno's home.
No need to RSVP for the service but PLEASE RSVP to Karen at (916) 214-4573 or redredwine40@yahoo.com if you're planning to join for catering purposes. Thank you.
