With great sadness we share that James (Jim) Jensen went to be with Jesus shortly before midnight on Thursday night, August 12th 2021. He leaves behind his wife, (Peggy), his daughters (Madison, Bristol, Kailey), son in law (Jim) and grandchildren (Charli and Colton). He lived a full life of bantering with friends, creatively fixing toys and vehicles, generously giving his time and resources to neighbors and the community, building beautiful pieces of furniture. He always lent a helping hand, firewood, building experience or vehicle repairs for neighbors that needed support. He loved working for Young Life for the last 24 years, 17 of those in his role at Lost Canyon in Williams, Arizona. He enjoyed his time as a cowboy and doing shows with the Cataract Creek Gang, practicing his gun tricks and wearing chaps while talking to people from around the world visiting this town. He was thankful to participate in leadership and walk alongside the First Baptist Church of Williams community. He could always be found at the sporting events for his children, tinkering with a vehicle (or five), on long jeep rides exploring the forest with his wife and playing with his grandkids that he loved so dearly. The loss of him this side of heaven leaves a crater in the community and the family's lives. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, friend, neighbor and co-laborer... the echoes of his generosity, faithfulness, creativity, compassion and kindness will go forward with all who knew him and forever be carried close to their hearts. He was a quiet, faithful man that brought comfort, support, care and creativity to so many peoples lives in his years here on earth. He was a man that knew no strangers and called many friends and neighbors. The Celebration of Life for Jim is open to the community and anyone who knew him, those that would like to celebrate his life and what he meant to so many people. Celebration of Life for Jim Jensen is Sunday, Sept 26th at 4:30pm at Lost Canyon, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that those interested can make donations to 1) scholarship fund for Williams High School students attending trade schools or 2) towards Williams Young Life. Details for both of these will be available soon.

I remember when I decided it would be fun to take my 4Runner (aka "El Diablo" affectionately named for its ability to occasionally catch fire) off-roading in the old Lost Canyon boneyard area. Jim saw me drive right into in and he knew what would happen. I enjoyed 3.2 seconds of off-roading bliss and then sank and was up to my running boards in paralyzing mud. I'd be up to my knees if I got out. Opening my car door was a joke. I sat there for only maybe 2 minutes stewing on my bad life choice before I heard a motor heading my way. There was Jim! Pulling up in a camp tractor already equipped to haul me out! I was fairly embarrassed at my lack judgment but he just smiled and said "as soon as I saw you start driving, I knew you'd get stuck in there". So incredibly kind. Always on the look out for ways to help. The Jensen family graciously hosted our YL club in their home (moved their furniture every week and risked their living room. Ok and maybe their lives a little when an unnamed leader caught fire to a paper to emphasize a point in his talk). I'm thankful you all took in my dog Roxy when I couldn't take her along in my move to CA. I'm thankful for Jim's kind, loving, and graceful presence that will inspire us to also help others and remind us of God's loving kindness to each of us. Jim will be deeply missed.
