The first time I met Jim, he had given Charlie a new calculator. Charlie was just the kind of kid who would be thrilled with that gift.:) I thought, "This guy knows and loves my cousins. I love him for that." Then the wedding… There was an air of fresh excitement that I'd thought was exclusive to a new romance. But with Cindy and Jim, there was this simultaneous feeling that they'd known each other for years and that they, as a family, were always meant to be. The way Jim adoringly looked at Cindy, I thought, "This guy knows and loves my aunt. I love him for that." Jim was an example that fresh excitement and genuine love can endure forever. That is a lesson that will continue to inspire me. I love him for that.

I'm devastated by the loss of Uncle Jim and my heart breaks for Cindy and the kids. I'll always remember him as one of the kindest and most patient persons I've ever known. I remember traveling there once a while back and he picked us up at the airport and we had the most fun talking about the moon and whether it was a satellite and the whole time he just added joy and good humor and kindness. I love you Uncle Jim - you were a beautiful light in a world with just too much pain sometimes. Love you always and forever, Katie
