"Just One More Row..."

Jennifer Simpson Hall of Eastland, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation facility on Tuesday March 26, 2024 at 4:30am after battling a lifelong battle with juvenile diabetes.

During her lifetime she rarely met a stranger that remained one for long. Her chipmunk cheeks and Cheshire grin drew people to her while her largely self taught intelligence and quick wit turned mere  conversation into a delicious intellectual picnic.

Jennifer and I got married on Halloween in 1994 after a 2 year courtship. We welcomed our only child Christopher in 1995. Seeking a fresh start and a chance at a better life, the family moved to Stillwater, OK where Jon enrolled at Oklahoma State University and Jennifer began work at the local radio station 98.7fm KSPI, serving as a front desk generalist and as the station's world music director.

During their time in Stillwater, Jennifer joined her husband, working in the Access Services Department at the Edmon Low Library on the OSU campus. Her main responsibilities included searching the stacks for lost items. This coincided with a period where diabetic retinopathy wreaked havoc on her vision resulting in several laser eye surgeries and a permanent blind spot in the center of her vision. Leave it to OSU to hire  a blind bookfinder.

In 2014, the Hall's moved to downtown Colorado Springs, allowing Jennifer to discover the Wooly Works yarn store where she worked for the rest of the time she lived in the Springs. This opportunity put her in contact with a large cohort of friends with whom she shared her love of knitting.

In 1997, the family moved yet again, this time to Denton, TX. Far removed from all her friends and with Jon taking a position at which he was set up to fail, the Hall's learned how to recognize red flags, and how to extricate themselves from powers that seek to destroy.

That led them to Eastland County, where the Ranger College community embraced them, making them feel at home and safe.

In 2022 Jennifer's health began to take a toll on the entire family. Advanced stage osteoporosis led to several breakages of bones in her legs, a wheelchair for mobility and a battle with new infections that ultimately took her life just a few days removed from her 55th birthday.

Jennifer is survived by her mother Lynda Shell  her husband Jon Hall, her son, Christopher Hall, two sisters, Sara Cowan and Laura Simpson, and her brother Lieutenant Commander Paul Simpson.

I met Jennifer as a student working at the Edmon Low library. She had such a bright aura that seemed to radiate warmth and a fun loving spirit. One of my favorite memories is when she did not hesitate to loan me and another coworker her crutches so we could have an office chair joust. When I left OSU she gave me some beautiful bamboo yarn to make something special with. I never gained any knitting skills past making scarves, but after fifteen years and over seven moves I still have it. Seeing it would make me happy and remind me of Jennifer.

I met Jennifer at Wooly Works in 2014, when I moved there to help out my sister and my nephew while my brother-in-law was deployed. I remember her being amazed at how I could do fair isle and keep up a conversation during open knit. I am glad that I was able to meet her at the same time she also moved to Colorado Springs as me.

I knew Jennifer when we were both at Edmon Low Library. Jen was always with a positive outlook on everything. Knitting was her passion. Admire Jen's outlook on life. Rest Peacefully, Jen.
