Jeffrey Michael Hustler

February 17th, 1946 - October 30th, 2020
With friends and family spread across the globe and the current Covid restrictions limiting travel, we have set up a page to enable people to share their memories and stories of Jeff. Feel free to add messages and pictures, regardless of language, to enable us to share in the celebration of his life.
Born in Manchester in 1946, the youngest of 3 brothers that survived into adulthood, Jeff didn't have the easiest childhood. His father died when he was 13. His mother worked hard to make ends meet and sadly passed when he was 19. By then, he had met Jean, the love of his life, and they married just as he turned 21. A year later they were blessed with a daughter, Jayne, and their family was complete when Julia was born the year after.
Jeff was driven to do the best he could for his family. This included working night shifts at the Gas Board and then heading overseas for a better job, initially to Libya and then to Abu Dhabi. It was in Abu Dhabi where he established himself as a significant player in the local oil industry and where he and Jean made lifelong friends. From Abu Dhabi they moved to Aberdeen, Scotland and Jeff spent a number of years managing offshore oil installations in the North Sea until ill health 'beached' him whereupon he embarked upon a series of projects including the establishment of new oil platforms and the Y2K project.
After opting for early retirement, Jean and Jeff moved to sunnier climes and set up home in the Algarve close to their grandson, William. However, tending the garden wasn't enough for Jeff and when the opportunity arose for him to move to Asia to be closer to Jayne and his 2 youngest grandchildren, Emily and Edward, he and Jean moved to Singapore then Manila and then onto Perth, Australia.
Throughout his life, Jeff had a strong sense of appreciation for the good fortune he enjoyed. He was deeply moved by poverty, especially its impact on children, and understood the importance of education in the betterment of all. He was affected by many of the sights he saw on his travels and did whatever he could to support those less fortunate where he could. Grateful for the opportunities he enjoyed whilst in the Phillipines, he gave generously and supported both on an individual and on a group basis. The legacy of his generosity will continue as those who benefited from it grow into adulthood and pay it forward.
Jeff and Jean relocated to England to be closer to family and healthcare in their later years. In August 2019, Jeff was diagnosed with lymphoma which sadly returned aggressively in the summer of 2020 and he passed away at peace in York on 30 October 2020.

I knew Sir Jeff through our former Executive Director, Ms. Elizabeth Caces, way back year 2000. He was our generous, kind-hearted, and loyal donor and supporter here at Concordia Children's Services. According to Ms. Elizabeth, Sir Jeff never hesitates to extend his help to the needy especially to the children of Concordia. Even until his last days, he still thought of the children and how he can still help. Thank you, Mr. Jeff Hustler, for all the unconditional love that you have shared with CCS especially to our children. To me, you are the ambassador of goodwill, because even after your passing, we were still in your mind. You are one of the instruments that God has put on earth to give hope to the hopeless. Goodbye, our loyal supporter. You are always loved and will never be forgotten. May your soul rest in peace.

Jeff was one of the 'good guys'. We met in Abu Dhabi in 1974 and though he was a 'Prodie' we worked together at ADPC/ADCO until I left in 1982. Thereafter we remained good friends to this very day Prior to arriving in Abu Dhabi a number of us had been guests of Colonel Ghadaffi for some years, Abu Dhabi was, well, different, from Libya to say the least. We were part of a team who were involved in the infamous Gas Lift Project at Bu Hasa. After 5 years and millions of dollars expenditure we finally had 1 1/2 Station's online (not for long!!). Long days in remote locations in ambient's off the scale, we worked hard AND played hard. Jeff was a leader in the squash & football group, tenacious and a winner at all. Many a social night in his company with many an accompanying 'bad heed' the following morning The characters who played a role in this parts of Jeff's life are too many to mention but include: Jenks, The Flying Pig, Urqui, Pugwash, Fatty Driver, Niggly Phil, Flipper, Hollie, The Barron, The Mummy, Uncle Ken, Woofer Ghadd, Tricky Dickie, Woodie, Cat Weazel, Vaughi, Dundas, Harty, Millsie, Fagan, Fishcake, Brindie, Ben Buttle, B Cubed, BJ Wilson, Rocky Bilal, Raz, Prince Charles, Sgt Major Menon, Habshan Singh, Joe Narona, George Jimmy, Kojak, SOB, Harty, Micky Mowser, Herdi Gerdi, Chewi, Clockwork Orange and Khouti the Barman (big pal of Jeff's!!!!) to name but a few. I promised Jeff I would write a book one day of our antics and endeavor's but have got no further than Chapter Titles as on reflection few if any would believe the events to be true. If published it would be cataloged in the Terry Patchett fantasy section! The early 80's saw the beginning of nationalization with the expat workforce being seconded to a number of 'Majors' and many others returning to the UK North Sea. Overseas postings to Nigeria, Alaska, Columbia and the Far East followed. Over the passed 47 years the hard core have kept in touch despite being scattered and residing at the four corners. Contact usually followed the Premier league results especially when Man City were beaten! As the years pass by our membership is depleting but they live on in our memories. Old age and medical issues have/are taking their toll but we soldier on, we Band of Brothers. Thanks for the memories Jeff. RIP

I am Marianne Lizette Coprado, Social Worker here in the Philippines, working in an NGO called Concordia Children's Services, Inc. catering to abandoned/orphaned children, as well as children from an urban poor areas of Sta. Mesa, Manila. I have never met sir Jeffrey Hustler in person but I can tell how good of a heart he has, especially to those who are in need. He had been supporting our organization for years and never failed to share all his blessings, most especially to his two sponsored children, Andre (Grade 7) and Roz Ann (Grade 11), helping them with their education. With this, I would like to share with you the two kids' letter to express their deepest condolences and sincerest thanks for all the love and support they've received from sir Jeff. Kindly see it below. "Good day! First of all, I would like to extend my deepest condolence to the family, friends, and all the loved ones of Mr. Jeffrey Hustler. I am Roz Ann Alojado from the Philippines, Mr. Hustler's sponsored child. I may not know him that well since I've never met him personally, yet I can still say and believe that he is a good person. He has been my sponsor for the past few years. With the support I received from him, my family and I were in relief because we don't have to worry a lot about the expenses of my education. He helped me a lot in my studies that I finished Junior High School without much struggle with my school needs. I will never forget his generosity for me and my family. He may not be around us anymore but the memories and kindness of him will never be forgotten. I hope that the memories we have of him will bring us, especially his family and close people to his heart, warmth as we all walk forward to a future without him. Always grateful, Roz Ann Alojado" "Dear Mr. Jeffrey Hustler, It is truly heartbreaking to receive the news of your passing. I hope that you are now peacefully resting in God's loving arms. You've helped me a lot in my studies, and I'll never forget how your generosity and kind heart have lifted me up during the two years of your sponsorship to me. You've not just helped me, but also my family. I promise to continue my studies and do my best to finish it. You'll always be one of the important people in my life. You may be gone, but I'll keep you in my heart. I am forever grateful to you. To Mr. Jeffrey Hustler's family, I and my family give you our deepest condolences. I may not know him fully, but I know that he's a person who'll be remembered for his good and big heart. Your sponsored child, Andre Pelicia" We, here at Concordia Children's Services, would like to give our deepest condolences to Sir Jeffrey's family. Rest in peace, sir Jeff. Again and always, thank you very much for everything.

I met Jeff in 1978 I was a young graduate looking to learn the trade and to make a better life for myself. Jeff was a fair , decent man who looked after his staff in a fair and unbiased manner . We spend many afternoons playing squash , followed by football on a Gatch pitch and after all that we end up at the pool side drinking beer and talking politics . I will always remember Jeff fondly for being a teacher and a role model . Rest In Peace Jeff and thanks for the memories.
