Loved Ones

Jared, Your eyes have gone forever. Your smile, your laugh, your face. Where once you stood before us, a picture takes your place.   Reality is, we know it’s true, but still we can’t believe... A very young man, with so much life really had to leave.   We loved you from your time of birth, we watched you grow and learn... Jared, we shall meet again, when it’s our time to return.

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Jared was found deceased in his residence. Jared suffered from a chronic disease which was addiction to alcohol. This disease made him very ill and our hope is that he is now free of pain and suffering.  Jared was 34 years old.

Jared was born in Chicago, Illinois to Caroline (deceased) and Stephen Kaplan. He leaves a sister, Drue Siekmann (Kaplan), brother in law, Matthew Siekmann, step nieces, Abigail Siekmann, Julia Siekmann, and Caroline Siekmann. Jared had a step-mother, Ann Baker Kaplan, step sister Katie Diehl, step brother in law, Mike Diehl, step nephews, Ryan and Luke Diehl, step sister Christa Smith, step brother in law Tommy Smith, step nephews, Nolan and Bennett Smith.

Jared also leaves his maternal aunt, Christine Kearns (Burns) and uncle, Kevin Kearns, his cousins Evan Kearns and Amanda Wolinski (Kearns), maternal aunt Catherine Foss (Burns), cousins Brian Foss, Eric Foss, and Melissa Foss Hawkins- Zimmer. On the paternal side, Jared leaves his uncle Ronald Kaplan, aunt Carol Kaplan, and cousins Amy and Holly Kaplan.

Jared joins his mother, Caroline Kaplan, maternal grandmother, Taeko Burns (Sagara), maternal grandfather Edward Burns, and paternal grandfather, Bernard Kaplan, maternal uncle Paul Foss, maternal uncle William "Bill" Burns beyond this world.

Jared leaves behind many close friends and family members who loved him dearly. Notably, his former fiancee, Ramona Torres, her children, Jada, Noah, and Giovanni, and her family who spent almost 8 years loving Jared. May their hearts heal from the loss of the person Jared was when he joined their family.

Jared lived most recently in Phoenix, AZ. He was passionate about his work as a canine handler at the airport. He loved dogs and adored the pups he adopted through AZ Happy Tails Animal Rescue. Jared enjoyed cooking, paintballing, and traveling. Jared was immensely loved by his family and close friends. We hope that he is finally at peace and reunited with his mother, as he never fully recovered from her passing.

I personally did not have the priviledge of knowing Jared. However , from the comments expressed by those that did, he sounds like someone I would have enjoyed being around. No doubt we can all relate to what it says in God's word at 1 Corinthians 15:26 where it describes death as an enemy. I have found comfort in what the Bible teaches , that God cares for us individually. He is aware of distressing circumstances we experience, such as the loss of a loved one, and he hears our prayers (1 Peter 3:7; Psalm 34:17,18) Our condolences go out to the entire family.

Such horrible news, he was an amazing boss, and friend. We had a blast working at JFK and exploring all the sites in NYC while there. Luckily, I had lunch with him last month, however, this is truly sad. He was a great guy.

A friend/brother sent this to me and o thought these words fit right in right about now. Jared, I love you as my own and always will! I will miss our little FaceTime chats we’ve been having lately! Hopefully those who see this, read it all the way through and it helps them with the loss of a great and wonderful person. A person, a young man I’ve know since his birth, and he called me his Uncle. I will also cherish the closeness of being his Uncle. Today’s Scripture  “...A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity...” (Proverbs 17:17) A FRIEND LOVES AT ALL TIMES You can tell who your real friends are when you fail, when you get off course. Friends stay loyal to the people God puts in their lives. Good people make mistakes and blow it. People who love you can let you down. When your loved ones and friends make mistakes, they don’t need another judge to condemn them or add to their guilt and shame. You can help love them back into wholeness. To be loyal doesn’t mean you condone or approve their actions. You’re simply showing them the mercy you would want shown to you. You’re being a healer, a restorer. You lift people up. Don’t be a fair-weather friend. Be the friend who walks in when others are walking out. Our attitude should be, “You can count on me. I’m committed to loving you for the long haul, through thick and thin.” They know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can count on you. A Prayer for Today “Father, thank You for loving me at all times, for pouring out Your grace upon me and never giving up on me when I’ve failed. Thank You for the friends You’ve given. Help me to be loyal to them and be at my best when someone else is at their worst. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
