To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Janis Rae (White) Barnes seven and a half year fight against cancer ended the morning of March 23, 2023. She is survived by her daughter, Buffy Butler; husband Randy Barnes, step-daughter Rachel Barnes and step-grandson Christopher. Five brothers, and neices and nephews.
Janis was always a social justice warrior even as a young student when she protested in high school for girls to have the right to wear pants. She stood up for equality, the lgbtq+ community, poc, the environment, and animals.
And she would always lend a helping hand, or a place to stay, to others.
Yellow was her favorite color, it's bright and happy, and her favorite flowers were yellow roses, bird of paradise, and daisies. She loved trees, nature, animals, and music; she even played classical piano though struggled with reading music, she played more by ear. Her favorite music artist was Joan Baez.
She loved art and dance and reading.
A visitation remembrance will be on April 4, 2023 from 11am - 12pm at Infinity Fellowship, 641 W. Nocturne Dr., Nashville, TN 37207.
(There will be a private memorial for family at Noon on the same day)
