Jane Marie Perrigo
1946 - 2025
1946 - 2025
Larger Than Life
The world lost a Real One on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Jane Marie Perrigo left this worldly life after 79 abundant years of love, verve, fun, and a final struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was surrounded by her family for a peaceful passing.
Jane was known as a woman of action. She moved through her life constantly looking forward to the next project, expedition, day.
She dedicated herself to many pursuits. As a student or mother, in her careers in real estate and construction, as a best friend or sister, and always an artist and teacher, Jane was adored by her many friends, as well as a share of admirers.
Never one to stop early, Jane could be found out dancing ‘til the wee hours with her besties, showing up to give the school bus a song and cheer routine when her children left for camp, or staying up through the night to help out friends. Her energy and love for those around her was limitless.
Jane was known for her determination and definite ideas. She was a skilled side stroke swimmer, never wetting her hair in a lake. Her homes always had one.more.project to be completed. Anyone who worked alongside her knew that if you needed a break, you could simply switch to another task, “if you’re taking a break… go move this over there.”
A wonderfully animated raconteur with great comedic timing, and creatively amplifying history for effect, Jane curated her stories of wrestling more than a few ogres and mountains, both actual and metaphorical, with all the boldness one could imagine.
Jane never met a road trip she wasn’t ready to go on, having driven more miles in a single decade than many do in a lifetime. The stories and memories of her driving through the night to reach Lake Chelan, to take Andrea and Stasi for a week of swimming and camping in the 1970s, capture her love, not only of the road trip, but of the region and her children.
After many years of working in real estate and residential construction, Jane left Seattle to live out her long-time dream as a mosaic artist in the Okanogan Valley of Washington. In the wonderful community she found there, Jane developed her specialty talent, and following, in the field of mosaic art and the imaginative re-use of unique found items. Jane treasured this long period of her life, very much. It was plain she enjoyed the travel, lifestyle, and camaraderie she found there as much as the creation of her art.
Jane Marie Perrigo was born in Astoria, Oregon, January 12, 1946 to Richard Gordon Perrigo and Dorothy Farrell. Always a resident of the Pacific NorthWest, she inhabited Portland, Seattle, and finally Tonasket, Washington. Jane is survived by her daughters Anastasia and Andrea and her three grandchildren, Ramelle, Loretta, and Henry.
