Loved Ones

James Lloyd Ramsay, a man whose life was defined by unyielding faithfulness to the Lord and steadfast love and service for others, was born on August 8, 1928. He was known for his infectious positivity and words of encouragement, and his favorite saying, "Look up... your redemption draweth nigh," Luke 21:28. Encountering the Lord in his early 20's changed the course of his life forever. After coming to know and walk with the Lord, he navigated through life with a steady spirit, deriving strength, and courage from his faith and from loving and serving others and his community.

Dad / Jim / Uncle Jim / Grandad / Mr Ramsay / Elder Ramsay (as he was called) was a man rich in years and wisdom, living a fulfilling life for nearly a century. His life was dotted with countless moments of joy, laughter, and love. He was a doting and loving patriarch for his family. His impact was felt at Shiloh Gospel Hall, May Pen Ministers Fraternal and other ministers fraternals, Midland Bible Institute, Midland Bible Institute, Midland Preparatory School, the Christian Brethren Assemblies of Jamaica, and as a Justice of the Peace, among others. He held a deep affection for his family, church, and his community- his cool veranda becoming a well-known place for counseling, prayer, and encouragement. His compassion was evident in the warmth of his smile, the kindness in his actions, and the sincerity in his words. He was always ready to sing joyfully to the Lord and welcomed, especially as he progressed in age, the opportunity to sing with others.

On May 2, 2024, James drew his last breath, leaving behind a legacy of hope, faith, and love. His life was a celebration of the transformational power of God, a testament to saving grace, purpose and the strength of faith. His memory lives on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, his wisdom, and his unwavering belief in redemption. And he lives on, redeemed with his Saviour.

Joan (Thompson) Mitchell says... So much is remembered about Bro. Ramsay's hospitality and Christian love for everyone.👍🏻 I remembered his carr for Sis. Agatha and her Mom from Longsville (on the way to Chapelton) and his ensuring that got home each Sunday. Bro. Daley, those from Rhymesbury and so many others who benefitted from Bro. Ramsay hospitality and his encouragement in the Lord. Bro Ramsay would never allow my sister Joy and her grand mother to walk home to Chapelton Road from church services, he would take them home The last time Bro. Ramsay and myself were invited at an event at the Community Centre at Old Harbour Bay by Pastor Sandra Nembhard, one of his mentees, he spoke to to my sister Joy, and as she shared her gratitude, he told us that no one owes him anything, he is only indebted to God. His soul is now at RIP🙏🙏🙏

Brother Ramsay,Elder Ramsay. I thank God for your life. You were a great teacher in our Believer"s Bible classes held at Midland Preparatory School. You spent a great deal of time rightly dividing the word of truth. Thanks for your teaching on Malachi. I have lived by those principles for many years. You taught us to be tithers and to ensure that we are not lukewarm for the Lord. So. many lessons and pleasant thoughts. Such an excellent life of Kingdom stewardship. Such an. example of boldly living out your faith. I pray that I will continue to do the same. Until our Saviour Jesus Christ returns....

I wish I had the pleasure of spending more time with my dear cousin Jim and getting to know him better. Growing up in Jamaica I got to see him very seldom because the family lived on opposite sides of the island. However my Dad always spoke very highly of him that I felt close to him. It was my greatest pleasure when a few years ago on one of his visits to New York he came and spent a day with me and my family. He reminded me so much of my Dad who was also a Christian and very involved in his church. May the family be comforted by the beautiful memories he left in your hearts and may his soul rest in peace. He will be dearly missed.

Today, I honor the life and legacy of a remarkable man, my Godfather uncle Jim. From the tender years of my childhood to the threshold of adulthood, he was a guiding light, a pillar of strength, and a source of unwavering love and support. Mr. Ramsey was more than just a relative; he was a father figure, a mentor, and a steadfast friend. He took on the monumental task of helping to raise me with a heart full of love and a spirit of generosity that knew no bounds. He nurtured me not only with affection but also with the values and principles that have shaped the person I am today. In the church, he was my spiritual guide. He taught me the importance of faith, compassion, and integrity. His commitment to our faith was not just in words but in the way he lived his life—full of grace, kindness, and service to others. He showed me that true devotion is reflected in our actions and our love for one another. In every aspect of life, my Mr. Ramsey's influence was profound. He taught me the value of hard work, the importance of honesty, and the beauty of a life lived with purpose. His wisdom was a beacon that illuminated my path, even in the darkest times. As I reflect on the countless memories we shared, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons he imparted and the love he showered upon me. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the love he gave so freely. I am the person I am today because of his unwavering guidance and support. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will forever live on in my heart and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and perseverance that will continue to inspire us all. Thank you, Mr. Ramsey, for everything. Your love was a gift, your guidance a blessing, and your life an inspiration. I will carry your memory with me always, cherishing the lessons you taught and the love you gave. Rest in peace, knowing that you made a profound difference in my life and in the lives of so many others. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will endure forever.
