James "Big Jim" M Oscher, Sr.

Big Jim was larger than life. To us kids, he was the definition of a “Dad’s dad.” Between our adventures, or travels, or even just hanging out around the house - we have many stories from just being with our dad.  There wasn't ever a bad time being with dad. We made the best of what we had and where the days took us.  Each of us carries different stories and moments that have stuck with us—many turning into inside jokes that have lasted for decades. We know his friends and family have their own stories too, just as unforgettable.

He wasn't a person to get angry often, and just wanted simple things in life.  Even with his final days on this earth all he wanted to was to continue spending that same time just like we always did - eating White Castle and watching the Yankee's play. Sadly, cancer took that from us—an uncommon, aggressive form called Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of Unknown Primary Origin. Just like his life, even what took him was rare and one of a kind.

To our father, thank you for being a Dad—the one who always helped us no matter what, who took us on adventures, and who passed down those “Dadbits” of advice that we’ll carry for the rest of our lives.
