James Dailey
October 24th, 1957 - November 11th, 2021
October 24th, 1957 - November 11th, 2021
James Brian Dailey “Jimmy, Jimbo, Papa,” passed away on November 11, 2021 at home in Newberg, OR. His contagious laughter and playful spirit will be missed by all as he always made a lasting impression on anyone he met.
Loving husband to Susan Dailey. Beloved son survived by his mother, Nancy Dailey and preceded in death by his father, James Melvin Dailey. Devoted father of Michelle (Derek) Weaver, and Stephanie (Larry) Burks. Proud Papa to Morgan and Hannah Weaver, and Wesley and Peter Burks. Oldest of his close knit family, Jim is also survived by his brother Kevin (Walina) Dailey, and sisters Robin Smith and Kimberly Shaw and was a playful uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Born in Seattle on October 24, 1957 he lived his entire life in the Pacific Northwest which fueled his love of the outdoors. In 1964 the Dailey family moved to Garden Home, Oregon where he attended Whitford and Beaverton High School and later moved to Sherwood where he graduated in 1975. His love for all things baseball started at a young age and was a constant in his life. He enjoyed playing baseball at Alpenrose Dairy and went on to attend Eastern Oregon State, in LaGrande, Oregon where he played shortstop for the EO Mountaineers. He was the first freshman in the history of Eastern Oregon State to make varsity.
After college, Jim married and became a father and instilled his love of the outdoors, camping and the Oregon State Beavers in his two daughters. He also began his career as a software engineer for Mentor Graphics (Siemens) for over 30+ years and was known for his playful soul, kind smile and friendship by many of his coworkers. He married his best friend, Susie, in 1989 and stayed close to all of his passions in Oregon.
Jim’s legacy carries on in his family and friends who share his essence of compassion, guidance, humor and strength. All who loved him dearly will never forget his wit, charm and big bear hugs. He was always the life of the party with a whiskey or wine in hand. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends, trying out new recipes, all the time bringing everyone together. He looked forward to the family annual Beach Trip, Holiday Parties and loved attending Beaver games with his daughters. Michelle and Stephanie will carry his legacy with them and hold him closely in their hearts. His stories will live on forever.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date and will be hosted either virtually or in-person. A truly devoted Papa and family man, Jim’s wishes for his grandchildren are the opportunity to further their education. In honor of his memory, the family is creating a college fund for his four grandchildren in his name, the “James Brian Dailey Scholarship Fund”. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to this fund and that you raise a glass of your favorite beverage in his honor.

I just found out about Jim. I used to work with him. He was always happy and smiling. My thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful wife, children and siblings. The world will not be the same without him.
