Tonight I found myself thinking about Jacob and looked him up and found myself stunned. Jake, I write this with a heavy heart… I met and knew Jacob in high school. He was charming, adventurous, creative , smart, he was very altruistic. and I knew he had so much going for him in life. One night we went out on an adventure to a ranch where he worked, he showed me the animals, we talked about life and he even went out of his way to make sure I was happy and having a good time . Jake was someone who didn’t have to try to be anything . He simply was remarkable. He nourished the spirits of everyone he encountered. If you ever got to meet Jacob you know exactly what I’m talking about. He always left every room brighter than he found it . </3

Jacob was a great friend. I’ll miss you so much. You were amazing to me and my family. Jacob and I went to high school together and stayed in contact after school. I shared pictures from when were seniors in high school 2013. He brought so much happiness and light to my life . I’ll never forget you Jacob. You’ll always be in my heart.

So many memories. I wish I had one last chance to tell you how wonderful you are. To Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and everything you have taught me. You have no idea how much you have impacted my life. You helped me see the beauty in the most ordinary things. From catching fireflies, counting stars, tents in the backyard to keeping corn in the car to feed the duckies. You always amazed me with how you viewed the world. To always leave it better than you found it. Your contagious laugh, your goofy gestures, the way you lit up every room you walked into. The memory of you has consumed me for days. Thank you for always being so brave and adventurous. Thank you for always making me laugh. Thank you for giving the best advice and praying for me when I needed it most. Thank you for always encouraging me to sing. Thank you for teaching me to always be giving, loving and kind. Thank you for being the reason I learned to love people so deeply. I remember when we took a homeless man to eat at KFC because we didn’t have any cash. And sat for hours hearing his story about how he wanted to become a millionaire by starting his own mailman business. Or how you stopped the car in the middle of the street when I asked you to because I thought a lady was in trouble after seeing a man follow her into an alley. (Turned out she was a prostitute and didn’t need our help lol) When you picked me up at the airport dressed like Waldo and I had to search for you literally everywhere! Or when you offered to change my car oil but turned out you accidentally took out the transmission oil so it didn’t start lol Or when you let me shave your head because you knew it would make me smile. You are beautiful. And I pray everyday to God that he please tell you. For I know in my heart, from all the kingdoms you are in the highest Kingdom of Glory. Because a beautiful heart and beautiful mind like yours, any soul would recognize in more than a million different lifetimes.

This is from the exchange students at United High School, Laredo from 2010-2011. It’s all such distant memories but we all remembered Jacob as incredibly kind, energetic, and just always with a big smile on his face. His presence always brightened the classrooms, especially when he had two classes (if I remember correctly) with the majority of exchange students. There are so many details but words pale in comparison to when you were with us. We miss you, Jacob. Rest in peace.

Jacob was my first companion on our mission to Chile. He was always so kind and patient with me even when I was having some difficult times in my life. He was always a light in my life during that time period and was always helping me when I needed it. He was always happy and excited, his smile always brightened my day. Rest well elder gibson. I will never forget the kindness you showed me

Two years after returning from his mission we went to Monterrey for a temple trip. We went zip lining and his cord got stuck so he had to pull himself with one arm for the remaining leg. Then we got lost in the subway in the city, but found our way back. Jacob had a way with people and always made everyone laugh and smile. Also, his hair was always perfectly intact and he took pride in that. I can’t believe you are gone bud.
