Jack Schmidt

Jack was diagnosed with autism when he was 9 months old. On February 21, 2018, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. He went through chemo and other treatments for 2 years before being declared cancer free. In 2021, Jack relapsed with Neuroblastoma and Leukemia with a 15% chance of survival. He did more treatment and then was NED for a month. In December 2022, Jack's health declined and he was declared terminal and put on hospice. He spent that month rocking out, watching movies and tv, playing superheroes, and giving hugs. On January 2, 2023, Jack and I (his sibling) were in his bed listening to our favorite songs, when he started struggling to breathe. His lungs had collapsed and there was nothing we could do. I watched his bright blue eyes cloud over, and he lifted his hands off me and signed "I love you". At 7:14 AM, Jack passed away in my arms. He was a hero, friend, and the best brother. He was a true superhero who will always be remembered for his bravery, smile, hugs, and infectious laugh. That boy was a legend who will be in our hearts forever.
