A loving humanitarian, Ino Walter Sylman is known for his generosity, integrity, protective nature and his dedication to his family. Born in Paramaribo, Suriname, Ino came to the US at age 13, learned English and proudly served in the U.S. Army 82 nd Airborne. After his honorable discharge, he attended Teterboro School of Aeronautics and graduated with a technical degree in Aviation. In 1968, Ino began working as an aircraft maintenance mechanic for Trans World Airlines where he was to spend his entire career. Ino had an admirable work ethic and was promoted to Supervisor then to Manager of Airport Operations for TWA at JFK Airport. Work titles were nice, but Ino's most cherished titles were Dad and Opa. Spending time with his daughter and grandchildren always warmed his heart. Son of the late Sophie and Cyril Sylman, Ino is lovingly remembered by his daughter Natalie, grandchildren Evan and Kennedy, siblings Elaine, Judith, Franklin, George (deceased), Myra, Kenneth and Milton, sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Parkinson's Research.

I am beyond devastated and typing this thru tears. I consider Ino my best friend! I sold him a townhome in Clermont and from that day he was one of the truest most giving friends I have ever known. I moved and started an animal rescue and Ino did not care to be around all of the dogs but MOSTLY he did NOT want to be in the farm atmosphere due to the possibility of snakes😆 He told me about his childhood and how he would walk barefoot and snakes were always a threat. I can't remember him saying he was ever bitten but this was the topic anytime snakes were mentioned. This man went out of his way to help me thru a very devastating financial time. I remember opening my door to find bags of groceries waiting for me (more than once). He never asked for anything in return. I ran into him one day in Kohl's and he agreed to let me treat him to lunch. I could tell he was pleasantly surprised that I could afford to buy him lunch. He almost had a proud look on his face to know that I had pulled through and he had a large hand in making that possible. While we were there I was able to give him back money that he had loaned me. He hesitated to take it because he worried it would be a Hardship for me. I insisted and went on to tell him how things were going. He was sincerely so happy for me. Little did I know this was to be our goodbye. We agreed that day to meet up for lunch often. I tried to reach him over the months and finally found out he was in the VA hospital in Washington. I couldn't understand him on the phone but a nurse told me where he was. I was shocked!!! Since that day, I have planned to travel to that hospital to visit him, and this fall I was going to finally be able to takeoff work. I made attempts to reach him but chalked it up to whatever the sickness was he was dealing with and just kept praying that I would make it to see him. Fast forward to this month, I was unable to reach him on his phone to make arrangements to visit. I couldn't remember the name of the hospital the nurse had given me, so I decided Earlier today to Google his name……..and to my dismay, found this obituary. Ino, my heart is crushed And I will never forget you and how much you mean to me. I know how much love you had in your heart for everyone especially your daughter and your grandchildren. You were always beaming with pride when you spoke about them. I always remember you saying ‘Carpe Diem' and you did just that! You were so helpful to so many people you actually had an effect on others lives in such a great way. Other men should live with the honor and integrity with which you lived. You will forever be in my Heart ❤️

My condolences to you Natalie & the family. Mr. Sylman will definitely be missed. He was a fun, loving & giving person. He always wanted to share his meals or treats he would have. Loved to eat icecream and Natalie, you made sure he would have some. He was so crazy about you & his grandchildren. Always showed me the latest pictures of them and what they were doing in life. I loved to sit and talk with him, and even sing to him which would always make him smile. He loved to watch CNN channel. May he rest in peace and may each day for you be filled with the memories of your dad, he loved you so much! God bless and keep you all. Teresa Luttrell (AFRH)
