Howard Eugene Worley was born November 5th, 1961, in Waynesville, North Carolina to Mitzi and Jack Worley. Being born with scoliosis, Howard endured many physical and mental hardships from the very start of his life. The scoliosis stunned his growth, prevented him from participating in activities other children were able to participate in, and forced him to wear a back brace for a significant portion of his childhood. However, the way he endured through these obstacles would be indicative of how he would handle hardships later on in his life. After spending some time in Atlanta and New Orleans, Howard would eventually move to Houston at around the age of 12. He would later graduate from Alexander Smith Academy. In 1983, Howard partnered with what would be his future brother-in-law Doug Moncure and ran roofing business. The two of them would gradually build a successful company thanks to their grit and innovation. Howard later met and married Mary Worley (Mary Moncure at the time) and eventually had 3 children: Jack, Rose, and Stuart. Roofing would not be the only industry Howard would work in, as he later on worked in both commercial and residential debt collections. Howard was not raised a Christian but would later on in life develop a strong faith and relationship with Christ. He would serve as Junior Warden at Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond Tx, would donate and volunteer to serve others in the community through organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, and would share his faith with others like a true ambassador of Christ. For many years, Howard would battle alcoholism, however, that is not what defined him. What defined him was the fighter he was in all physical, mental, and spiritual obstacles he would face. On August 9th, 2021, he would pass away from sepsis and cirrhosis, the latter of which he battled for 4 years. At the time of his passing, he achieved about 60 days of sobriety and was able to stand before Christ sober. Howard was passionate about many things. Sports, fishing, cooking, traveling, and reading were just a few of his hobbies. But what Howard was most proud of was his children. He would take great pride in their accomplishments and would always light up when he had the opportunity to talk about them to his friends. Howard may have passed on from this world, but his family is confident that he has received God’s greatest gift and is in Heaven. His family is looking forward to the day that they will be reunited for eternity in paradise together.

Howard was the best man at my wedding, a business partner, but most importantly a true friend that helped me and befriended me at a very difficult time of my life. He lives in the hearts of all that knew him and I look forward to the happy reunion that we all will share!
