Barb, so sorry to hear of Horst's passing. I think of him every time I see whipped cream. Think his love of it and no-holds-barred approach to enjoying it just epitomized his zest for life and fun spirit. I will miss talking with him and learning from him. It was always great to get a true engineer's perspective on life. Sending you a big vitrual hug and my sincere condolences. And please don't hesitate to call if there's anything I can do to be helpful to you. Teresa

We are all so heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our friend Horst. Our entire family had a unique bond with Horst & Barbara as neighbors in Key Largo. We have kept your family in our hearts and thoughts from the moment we found out about your loss. We were all blessed to have known Horst and he was such a special person. With sincere sympathy we share in your grief and are praying for your family in this time of loss. The Fonte family: Jose, Victoria, Karin, Jose Jr., Nancy, Briana, Natalia & Kaylee.

With sincere sorrow we are thinking of Horst. He is so kind & always helpful. And he grilled the best steaks we have ever had. Blessing to his family,

A moment to remember the experiences we shared. Horst's unbreakable belief that engineers can make the world a better place was something I always remembered. I remember how proud I was to tell him about the founding of my software company during my last visit to Paderborn. And just like Horst, he first checked the business concept for "bulletproofness". For a long time I was deeply touched, no, I am still touched today, by the way he, as a technophile, explained his belief in god. He simply called everything that we cannot explain God. Pragmatic. It was probably 30 years ago that we talked about it. I remember the words as if it were today. And the expression "find it in the shed" is still a standing term for us, for something that is probably somewhere in the household, but so unreachably hidden that it is not worth digging. With Horst I made my first open water dives together (of course the boat was always broken and needed just a little repair). For that he remains forever connected with this hobby for me. I deeply mourn the loss of my godfather. Horst, we met much too rarely. I would have liked to introduce you to my children. Sorry. Unfortunately I have not found a photo showing us together. But at least two old pictures, which you may not know yet. Dear family, dear friends of Horst, whom I was allowed to meet and those whom I was not allowed to meet: I wish you that the pain will pass and the wonderful memories will never fade. All the best. Alles Gute.

Our dear friend was a wealth of knowledge who could repair things that others would just discard. We learned so much and loved his stories. He was an awesome friend who enriched our lives in so many ways. He will be dearly missed but remembered forever. Barbara, we miss you and want you to know that you are in our minds, hearts and prayers always. With our love, Deb and Wayne
