"I love you to the moon and back."
My mom, Heidi, unfortunately passed away due to unforeseen medical complications on March 7th, 2021 and was cremated and placed in a beautiful urn.
Let me tell you about my mom. She was flawed, but oh, she was one of the most loving human beings on this earth. She accepted people for who they were, and always encouraged me to be myself and not let anything or anyone try to change me.
Growing up, I remember my mom wanted to make sure we had a home, and we did. She and I would play Scrabble and the day she finally won, she cheered and teased me for being "not such a smartypants now." I would give anything to play with her again.
My mom was the person who got me into all of my favourite movies - she loved movies, her favourite was always Back to the Future, but the list was long - including The Breakfast Club, Overnight Delivery, and of course I can't forget Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. I will forever remember my mom by watching all of the dozens of films she got me into.
My mom was kind, loving, generous. She always had a kind word to say about someone, even if they hurt her. She didn't hold grudges, and had such a forgiving nature that baffled me sometimes. How could someone be so gracious to those who had done her wrong? But that was Heidi.
She loved her treats, especially Reese's PB cups, maybe a little toooooo much. Once I saw her nodding off whilst still eating them, it was hilarious. Her homemade spaghetti was the best, and she taught me how to make it myself. My mom started going to Comic Con with me, which is my happy place, so it was really cool to be able to share that with her. I'll never forget meeting Judge Reinhold (Fast Times @ Ridgemont High) and how THRILLED she was just to tell him how much she loved that movie. My favourite moment was this: after she turned to walk away, he asked me her name again, and began to autograph a photo for her. The look on her face when I surprised her with it - pure joy.
I am so grateful that I was able to sort through my own issues in order to have a healthy relationship with my mom, even if it only lasted a short time. We talked on the phone every single day, had long conversations - how our hearts were broken by the loss of her mom (my grams). She always told me how proud of me she was, and that things would get better, because we were strong enough to get through this. I probably called her dozens of times with cooking questions, advice about friendships, and even though she didn't always have the answer - she made sure I knew that I had her love and support, no matter what.
I miss my mom so much, it hurts to breathe. She was my heart. I got some of the best parts of her, and I am so grateful I got to have her as a mom.

It was really nice spending time with you briefly when you would visit Jen. It was moving to see how much you cared for her. Those brief interactions will be cherished forever.
