Heather Johnston

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to the founder and inspiration behind Gurrs and Purrs rescue, Heather Johnston. Her remarkable dedication and immense love for all animals made a difference in our local communities. She was known to outreach and work alongside many animal advocates, training volunteers both young and old, working with other rescues to meet the needs of as many animals as she could. She had endless energy and gave her whole heart to Gurrs and Purrs, and every animal whose life she saved over the years. Heather is a strong spirit that will be held in high respect for all of her kindness, devoted work and positive impact that we will all remember. As Gurrs and Purrs moves forward as her legacy, the present board is committed to her strong mission of saving lives, one adoption at a time.
