Haydon Michael Stapp
December 24th, 2006 - December 19th, 2022
December 24th, 2006 - December 19th, 2022
Haydon Michael Stapp, 15, of Logan, Utah passed away on December 19, 2022, just days before his 16th birthday.
Haydon was born on December 24, 2006 in Logan, Utah to Sarah Petersen and John “Mike” Stapp, who loved him dearly. He was fortunate to have several devoted parental figures throughout his life including Saybel Kvande, Kelly Kesling, and loving uncles and aunts on both sides of his family.
Haydon grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado; Irvine, California; and Logan, Utah with his father and sister, Madelyn “Maddy” Stapp. Haydon found his closest confidante in Maddy, who is 11 months his senior: they lived by a strict sibling code and shared everything with one another. Haydon was fiercely protective of Maddy as well as his younger step-siblings, Sage and Liam Mewes, and Indiana and Arlo Kesling.
From a young age, Haydon was inquisitive and curious, determined to understand how and why things worked the way they did. He had a passion for learning and building, with a penchant for process-oriented engineering and technical trades. He was really looking forward to taking vocational courses at Bridgerland Applied Technology College next year.
Haydon was quick to speak his true feelings and stand up for what he believed in, especially in defense of people he loved. He balanced boldness with kindness and held a particular affection for dogs, relishing the responsibility of caring for his family dogs, Scout and Django as well as his cats, Fig and Newton. He nurtured a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors through time spent hiking, camping, fishing, and learning to shoot and hunt with his uncle, Michael.
Haydon leaves behind a profoundly loving family and network of friends. He is survived by his parents, John Michael Stapp and Sarah Shell Petersen; sister, Madelyn Shell Stapp; step-siblings Sage Rayann Mewes, Liam Orion Mewes, Indiana Opal Kesling, and Arlo James Kesling; paternal uncles, Christopher Thomas Stapp, Jared Richard Stapp, and Matthew William Stapp; maternal aunts and uncles, Michael Petersen, John Petersen, Amanda Petersen, and Aubrey Petersen. He is survived by paternal grandparents Jolynne Berrett and John Milo Stapp; maternal grandparents Robert Petersen and Michelle Cardwell; and cousins, Kassi Spaulding, Jordyn Spaulding, Jaqulynn Jean Elin Reeder, Scarlet Seville, and Marlee Ray Lynn.
Haydon’s family wants for the community to know that what happened was a tragic mistake. Haydon did not intend for this to happen. We will always miss Haydon and the effect he had on the people around him.

What was Haydon's signature saying?
Legalize it. I wonder if this world hear's the echoes of laughter that boy left behind when he died . I wonder if he had to go.. because the good die young and he deserved a better hand then he was dealt. I know that the pain that boy felt was chipping away at all the best parts of him and his soul. Yet it was always beautiful watching how he was with the world and the people he chose to be apart of his. He just numbed the pain and the things he couldn't let change him till he went to far. I miss the way the world used to feel. How he made it feel. I watched as we went without that blessing, how it grew cold and empty. Watched his siblings forget what it was to be loved so unconditionally. I hope someone knew what they had while they had it and held his hand. I hope that someone reciprocated that and made him feel that unconditionally kinda stuff. Unfortunately I fear that's not the case. Haydon did not kill himself. And it's not terrible example of what not to do. Not on his end anyways. I'd say it's a perfect example of how easily the best things in life can be taken from us and that shouldn't be taken lightly or for granted the way he was. I wonder if anybody still thinks about it. On a daily basis. Who he would be. What he would look like. What his voice would sound like. If you would have graduated and go to college. Or ever finish the pussy wagon. I really wonder. One thing's for sure; we are never gonna meet someone that special in this life. If you were lucky enough to know his name and his story let alone to be apart of it then you can say you've experienced nothing short of a miracle. Connor Aldridge( That's not how it's spelled) I think of you often as I knew how much you meant to Haydon cared for you. I hope you are doing well and didn't kill yourself. He always said you were his brother from another mother.
