Greg was born Gregory Winfield Campos on February 26, 1959 in Saint Vincent's Hospital, Los Angeles, CA. He was the son of Manuel James Campos a high school spanish teacher and Virginia Lou Marsh a community college english and children's literature teacher. The couple met when his father was a student in Virginia's English class at Los Angeles City College after returning from WWII where he served in the United States Army as a TEC3 mechanic. Greg's paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States by way of Argentina from Zaragoza, Spain and his maternal grandparents were from the Midwest. His grandfather, Norman Winfield Marsh, served in both WWI and WWII and in WWII served as an officer with the rank of Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Norman Marsh was a cartoonist and a student of Chester Gould who was the creator of Dick Tracy. When Norman Marsh finished his classes in cartooning with Chester Gould he created his first cartoon strip, Dan Dunn, a cartoon strip about a detective which is still famous today. Norman created two other cartoon strips during his cartooning career- Hunter Keene which ran for only a year after he returned from WWI and then the final cartoon strip was Danny Hale Frontier Scout which ran for many years after he returned from WWII. Greg grew up in Studio City, CA with his parents and his sister. He also spent time with his maternal grandparents as they lived nearby. Greg's father was an interesting man and was extremely controlling and antisocial. He chose his children's professions, ran his own family off when his mother passed on, and isolated his wife and children from others. Greg's maternal grandparents managed to stay a part of his, his mother's, and sister's lives although they had almost nothing to do with his father. All holiday celebrations were at the grandparent's home and nothing was ever celebrated at Greg's childhood home which was always a severe environment due to his father's oddness and antisocial behavior. Greg's father chose for him to become an attorney and for years would take his son to the court house in Los Angeles to watch court cases. When Greg was in high school his father had Greg's last name changed from Campos, his surname of birth, to Marsh as an attempt to hide Greg's hispanic ethnicity as he felt having a hispanic last name would be an obstacle in the legal career he planned for his son. Greg attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, CA and instead of graduating he was invited to leave high school one year early without a high school diploma to attend Loyola Marymount University from where he graduated at the age of 19. He then attended Southwestern University School of Law from which he graduated at the age of 21 with his Juris Doctor Degree. He passed both the California and Nevada Bar Exams at the age of 22 and went to Nevada to practice law. He worked for a law firm in Las Vegas and eventually opened his own law firm. Greg was married several times during his life. His father's controlling behavior it was said may have led to the failure of Greg's first marriage. Greg's father eventually discouraged Greg's sister from visiiting and isolated Greg and his mother even more.Greg missed out on the joy of knowing his only nephew and only met him once when the child was two years old. His father continued to have a major influence on Greg isolating him from family members and maintaining control over the home Greg lived in until Greg was in his early fifties and his mother, the last living parent, passed on from Alzheimers. Greg married for the last time on July 4, 2014 in on the same date his parents wed 63 years prior.Greg was married in the Little Brown Church in North Hollywood, CA. the very same church Greg's sister was married in some years earlier. Greg's parents , however were married in another church, the First United Methodist Church of North Hollywood, CA.. Greg lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and passed away January 29, 2018 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital Siena Campus in Henderson, Nevada at 11:15 pm. It was a life sadly cut short.
