Gordon Peter Lundmark
November 10th, 1946 - February 29th, 2016
November 10th, 1946 - February 29th, 2016
In loving memory of Gordon Peter Lundmark, 69, who passed away on February 29, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional HSC.
Gord was born on Nov. 10, 1946 in Dryden, ON to Elof and Maudie (Smith) Lundmark.
Gord grew up and settled in Wabigoon. It was a community that he loved and cherished. He attended school in Wabigoon and graduated from Dryden High School. He persued a career as an Electrician by attending Assiniboine Community College, in Winnipeg. Gord was a jack of all trades and a valuable employee to many businesses who were lucky enough to acquire him. For over two decades Gord was employed by the Keewatin Patricia DSB, retiring in the fall of 2014.
Retirement was a welcoming new world for Gord because it allowed him and Sharon to enjoy all their favorite things in life like family, travelling with their treasured friends Len and Joyce, unlimited fishing trips, daily coffee at Green Achers and curling on Tuesdays. Like his mother, Gord always made time to cheer on his favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens - Go Habs!
Gord met the love of his life, Sharon Turcott in 1982 and they joined their families together in marriage on September 16, 1983.
Gord was predeceased by his parents, Elof and Maudie and his brother David. Left with wonderful memories of a beautiful life spent together is his beloved wife Sharon, son Brian (Pattie) Lundmark of Thompson, MB, Diane (Alvin) Capovilla of Dryden, Michael (Elaina) Mercier of Maple Ridge, BC and grandchildren Megan (Philip), Monica (Wes), Liam & Dalton, Whitney (Matt), great-grandson Niko and great-granddaughter Quinn. Brothers Terry (Heather), Randy (Diane) and Sister Karen (David) Harrisson and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
It is difficult to summarize in a few paragraphs what a man like Gord Lundmark meant to those who loved him. This was a man who put his love for Sharon and his family above all else. Who greeted each day with a bright smile and who always lent a hand to those who needed it. He was a wonderful husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend. His light will shine bright and his spirit will live on in those who had the pleasure to know him.
Thanks to the staff of the Dryden RHC and the Thunder Bay RHSC for their care.
There will be no Visitaion as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1pm at Wabigoon Memorial Hall with Father Dick Kennedy officiating.
Interment of ashes wil be at a later date.
Further to this original Obituary, joining our families - Gord was blessed with 2 more great-granddaughters, Kaia and Chloe.
