Gilberto Laparra
December 18th, 1945 - July 28th, 2021
December 18th, 1945 - July 28th, 2021
Gilberto A. Laparra passed away Wednesday, July 28 of 2021, surrounded by family and loved ones. Gilberto was born in Coatepeque, Guatemala on December, 18 of 1945. On January 13 of 1967, he married the love of his life, Amanda Veliz. They had four children: Lorena, Gilberto, Eddie, and Mabi. They were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 4, 1972. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on November 8, 1977.
He had a passion for soccer, movies, and music, which is a legacy he left on his children and grandchildren. He was a great soccer player, and a great fan of Crema Comunicaciones, and Real Madrid soccer teams.
He served as Bishop, and Stake President in Guatemala; and Mission President in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Gilberto always stood out for his integrity, humility, pure heart; and mainly, his jokes, friendliness, and kindness towards all that came across his way. He was loved by children, his doctors, nurses, and people that met him for even just a moment. Everyone that met him, and asked for his name, would get the same answer: Bond, James Bond.
He was loved and admired by his wife, four children, seventeen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed, but he is still alive in the hearts of all of us who adore him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
