D'mello Uncle was one of my first favorite uncle-friends from the Shivsagar Society. The long happy chats at his window, always did put a smile to my face. I loved how he had cute and funny nicknames for everyone! He lovingly called me Maayo. Yes, with an extra 'a' and I loved it. He used to always appreciate me and he made me feel special. He always had something encouraging to say, with that brightest of a smile, eyes twinkling along with his cute specks and that happy mustache. 'Shake the paw' he used to say and I loved it how he would refer to our hands as cat paws! He was such an amazing Dad. How much he cared for Becky! I can still hear: his clear voice, when he would call her Jabbon or Bumble and kiss her head. Truly, the Best Dad ever. When I lost a dear friend and a part of my life he always used to tell me to remember that; when you lose someone you love, he or she stays with you and they watch over you all the time and smile. I know Uncle, now you are watching over your sweet Becks, Shirley Aunty and all of us! We shall meet some day and start our conversation from where we had left it, about almost anything and everything that we loved to chat about. Until then Uncle: shake the paw:)

Jerry, my kid brother....always came to my rescue when my kids were small and my husband was away on transfer. Spent nights in the hospital with me....never complaining or cribbing about lack of sleep. You were taken away from us too soon and so suddenly....may u now enjoy eternal peace with our Creator and the angels and saints. Miss u....

Rebec's dad....the most straight forward genuine concerned father that I came across in my life. He was always there for you Rebec. He quietly gave me signals to look over you and I confirmed those looks with eyes to tell him...yes...dont worry...I will take over from here. He showered his love by loving my kids immensely. I still remember his coochi coo kishi on my babies forehead. He is in a better place for sure and smiling as broad as ever as he is watching over all of us. Take care Rebec❤ and Aunty please❤.

Uncle..that's what i used to refer him to. In our society...wen we friends used to mention Uncle..it was wen we referred to him...Becky's daddy. Uncle was the one who loved cats...the trait and the person i lacked before he arrived...and the person i dearly miss now that he left us. I still remember Uncle driving home his Fiat Premier Padmini (we used to call him Pilot...due to the speed at which he would drive...making a car look like flying rather than driving). There was something in his car's horn. When ever he used to sound it...call the cats (and we had a lot back then in our society)..all the cats used to have their ears Up...and run towards B Building. Frankly...it made me a bit jealous but i wish there comes a day when I hear that horn again..this time I'll greet Uncle. Uncle was one of the first whom i used to notify when my CA results used arrive. From inter CA to becoming a CA, he always mustered my courage and encouraged me if i failed. He taught me the true meaning of PERSEVERANCE...which i will always practice in my life. Hop-Skip and Jump was one phrase i learnt from him. Used to hear a lot from him. Uncle was the first person whom i met, who used to talk to cats. One thing which i try to do..and wherever i do..i am always reminded of him. From saving our cats by taking them to the vet in uncle's car...starting to keep/raise cats at his own home - to facing the anger of many members for loving cats...Uncle was a friend..not just to me but truly for our cat family. I have spent a lot of time with him than any of my friends...knowing him go through a lot in his life to finally finding his rhythm in life in his final days. Uncle loved Becky but he never expressed the loss when left for Canada. In fact he used to hide it by saying he was happy..now that he can use Becky's room. Still remember him listening to music (radio) on his music player. Uncle was the one who introduced me to Bull-Woker, a device he bought for his body workout. I still remember..him being a lot a peace in his final months. He told me about the court's order in one long pending litigation..coming in his favour. Uncle seemed very relaxed, free from the stress he had all the years, was finally living life to the fullest when the lord called him. One memory, undeniably which does and will always remind me of him..is when i see the bottle of Old Spice. Old Spice and Uncle are synonymous. Gone too early i will say. I know he'll always be looking down on Becky and Aunty...being their guardian angel. There's a poem "The Rainbow Bridge" In the final para of the poem...it talks about the owner Reuniting with the pets. I know the Horn sounded in heaven on 12th May 2018 and this time it was the Lord who felt jealous..for all the cats the lord took back...ran towards Uncle..crossing the Rainbow bridge to stay together forever.

Growing up, whenever we would visit Bombay, Uncle Gerry was always so kind, gregarious and funny, always making us kids laugh. Ever ready with a treat for us, being with him was always an adventure. But what lingers in the memory most was his love and affection for Becky - his Bumble. We were so shocked and saddened by his passing. May he rest in peace.
