Georgia Searing Tranter
Georgia Tranter of San Diego Country Estates in Ramona passed away on November 5, 2021 in Escondido at the age of 92. Georgia was born in Monrovia, California on October 1, 1929 to George and Faye (Williams) Rodecker. She graduated from Citrus High School, where she won several speaking prizes. Georgia attended Pomona College prior to her marriage to Jack Manley in 1949. Following her graduation from the University of New Mexico in 1950, she taught at Paramount grade school in Azusa. Georgia raised her four children in Whittier and La Habra, California.
She married George Robert (“Bob”) Searing in 1967. The following year, the couple packed their four children into a large recreational vehicle and drove to meet Bob’s parents in his hometown of Sioux City, Iowa. As her children grew, Georgia resumed her career as a classroom teacher in La Habra. She and Bob moved to Ramona in 1989, where they enjoyed travel, entertaining friends and family, and playing golf. After a wonderful 32-year marriage, Bob Searing died in 1999. Georgia celebrated her marriage to Harry Tranter in San Diego in 2005 by taking her children and grandchildren on a cruise to Mexico. Harry lived until 2008.
Georgia was preceded in death by her loving husbands and by her son, Steven Manley who died fighting a fire near San Luis Obispo in 1979. She is survived by her devoted companion Mike Bedzis; by three children: Martin Manley of Oakland, California, Ron Manley of Chimacum, Washington, and Marcia Jo of Ramona; by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
