We met George in the later years of his life through Cynthia and Jim, and always enjoyed his company. A great listener, George always regaled you with his many stories and rich experiences of a life well lived. His many passions included his family and his beloved Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. George especially looked forward to and enjoyed his breakfast or lunch with Cynthia at the Galley Café. In those social settings we shared with George, we were always blessed to be in his company and came away knowing we had spent the time with a very special person.

George and I first met back in the day when Cynthia and I were in the same high school homeroom in Northbrook, Illinois. Every time I visited Cynthia in California since then, he was always so welcoming to me by making it a point to join us so that he could greet me with a huge smile and warm hug. One of my favorite memories was when George came to Chicago and took me to Shaw's Crab House, a favorite restaurant of both of us. He had recently lost his beloved Norma and he was sharing how much he missed her, but was grateful that Cynthia was there at his side to be his rock as he was struggling with the early stages of grief and loneliness. We talked about everything Chicago, from jazz clubs he used to frequent to the Cubs and local broadcasting. To Cynthia, Jim, Chelsea, Catie Jane, and the rest of George's family, my deepest condolences. Cynthia, he was proud of you, loved being with you, and appreciated your devotion to him.

George always told me to stay young by hanging out with younger people! Tracie and I were blessed to know George and Norma for years while members at MVCC! I was privileged to work with him on several committees , especially the Board of Directors. My favorite stories surround golf and of course our partnership in Fantasy Football! Look forward to sharing them in the near future!

My Son Daniel and I met George at Chicago Chicago Pizza about 25 years ago. It was the place to see the Bears play without having to put up with other games being played. At first George was kind of quiet and sat by himself, but soon we got him to join us and we were regulars there until the place closed in 2000. I bought the nfl Sunday ticket in 2001 and we all gathered in my garage to watch the Bears every year...this was the last year for us. George made it to 3 games this year and he struggled. Beth brought him and picked him up, God Bless her. He loved the Bears! He went to the Bears game vs Washington when the Bears won 73-0! He was fun to be around every Sunday when we had a game, and he always chipped in for the tv package. We were friends, Bears fans to the end, and fellow Marine Corps veterans. He was a good guy, and we will miss him. I know he now resides in the Best place, and I am sure he is still following his beloved Bears! Bear down George, we miss you!
