Whilst I only met Garth recently, it is sometime said that the mark of a man is the character of his sons. Kyle and Ryan are true gentlemen, both with an abundance of skills and the ability to fix that which is beyond repair. They both have strong family values and are caring, nurturing fathers. That is a legacy that Garth can be proud of, I am confident that they are reflective of him. One of Garth's last projects, was the rebuild he carried out on my Series 2a Land Rover, I regard myself as very fortunate to own one of his works of art. Hamba kahle Garth

Garth, you will be sorely missed by all who knew you. You had an irrepressible light which drew everyone around you in, where they were immediately welcomed with a mischievous twinkle, and a beer. Your spirit lives on in your boys. You taught them to love with an open heart, to laugh through troubles and to believe that any engine can be fixed (with enough patience, some spare parts and a good story). Your humour, hospitality and love of life have touched the lives of all of us who were fortunate enough to know you. Travel well Garth.

Garth i only had the privilege of knowing you for a short few years , from our first meeting at your place to come look at a bike with kyle. A few tafels later was all it took to realize what a gem of a man you were. Your love and zest for life were infectious . Always a smile on your face , you always managed to light up a room . I was often jealous of your relationship with kyle and ryan . Your love for them and your involvement with them with everything from daily life, to teaching them how to build and fix things from an early age , made me envy your relationship. They were very lucky to call you dad. My last memory of you was at pappachinos when we bumped into you and the family. You had just finished a good old puff on the cigarette outside and rushed in to finish of the last of the brandy as the family were chasing you to hurry up. You were laughing with that cheeky grin and calmy downed that last sip as they walked off . They say you are off to a better place now, but there is no better place than being with your family . The world has truly lost a great character and human being. Thanks for the privilige of having known and met you ,and for the friendhip if only for a short while. Rest in peace now garth . PS I'd love to be a fly on the the wall to where you going. Going to be one hell of a party . RIP

Garth, I will always be grateful for the time I got to spend with you. So many of the conversations we had and the life lessons you passed on have stayed with me. More than anything, I’ll remember your humour. You had an incredible ability to find something to laugh about. There was rarely a dull moment when you were around. You were someone I genuinely looked up to, and I feel very fortunate to have known you. Thank you for the laughs, the lessons and all the memories, Garth. You made a lasting impression. You won’t be forgotten.

Garth, you are sorely missed - family get togethers will not be the same without you! You were always the life of the party! You often had a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other while dancing the night away. I remember the Easter berg trips, racing those black plastic motorbikes downhill. Horse rides where you always seemed to choose the craziest horse, you playing your guitar by the campfire while we attempted to sing, and potjie competitions - I’m sure you were the one who started the Easter potjies!! How you loved playing your music in your yellow combi and listening to old records on your gramophone. There are a number of songs that will always make me think of you and smile. Garth, you are such a big part of so many peoples lives - a legend - and we will not forget you!! May a gentle breeze forever fill your sails….until we meet again x
