* Forever in Our Hearts *
Gabriel passed away at 92 years of age peacefully in his home and was accompanied by loved ones his last few days here. He lived a life of adventure with perils and highs throughout. He was a survivor! Those that knew him relished in his stories of his journeys as a child and were marveled by his travels around the world as an adult. My father taught me about hard work and perseverance. His love of knowledge was evident in his library of Art/Travels, History/Current events & Contemporary Novels. He loved the Opera and Theatre and his was a life well lived in the surrounds of a vibrant New York City.
Family life for Gabriel brought him one wife, a daughter and son, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren along with extended relatives in the U.S. He bestowed love on all and cared very deeply over family members near and far. Gabriel spent many years traveling to what he considered his "home land" Israel where immediate family members, one sister and half brother resided along with other extended family and wanted to divide his retirement between there and NY, but illness in his later years would not permit him to do so. In any event, NYC remained his permanent residence and his children and girlfriend were happy to have him near.
My father was very much loved and will be missed dearly, and somehow the 'Big Apple' won't quite ever be the same-

I have many good memories to treasure from my uncle Gabi. I enjoyed his winter visits to Israel, and when I visited NYC I always felt most welcome in his house. I enjoyed his sense of humor, and enjoyed talking with him and listening to his stories. He was a self-taught and I admired his great knowledge in art and history. I am sorry that in the recent years his health has not allowed him to continue visiting us in Israel. I will miss him a lot.

Wonderful tribute Debi. It looks like he lived quite a life. What a lucky man to have such a beautiful family.

Sorry to hear of your father’s passing. Hold on to the good memories and he will forever be with you. He is most definitely in a better place and pain free! His spirit will live on! ✡️

Gabriel was a loving and caring brother. When I was a child, during the holocaust, we lost our mother and he looked after me and took care of me, and continued to do so in the next few years. When he moved to NYC, his house was at all times open to our family and he always hosted everyone very generously. Gabi loved art, literature and history. He travelled a lot and was fluent in five languages. We all loved and enjoyed his visits to Israel and we will greatly miss him.

When I was a youngster living in Brooklyn with my parents and siblings, I remember the handsome uncle from Israel who came to visit for a week and stayed with us for 6 months. Memorable, fascinating man! So sorry for your loss.
