An analytical, humorous, competitive and loving person, Fritz Lloyd Henry Davis, 78, died on September 9, 2020. Fritz was born in Duncan's, Trelawny, Jamaica to Neita Watson Shaw and John Davis. He was the 1st child for his mother. He grew up in the community of Haughton Grove, Hanover and attended Knockalva High School in Ramble before it was a technical school. Fritz completed his tertiary education at Mico Teachers College and later completed an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of the West Indies, Mona campus. It was at a joint Mico/Shortwood Teachers' College party that he met Avery Jones who he would marry three years later in 1968. Fritz worked as a Probation Officer for several years and then worked with the Family and Children's Services first as a Counselor and then Director. After migrating to Rochester, New York in 1985, he worked with various social services and then started working with Queensboro Correctional facility where he worked until he retired. He enjoyed his work and was sad to retire. Fritz loved being in New York City and stayed there after he retired, living in Queens. Those who knew Fritz know he was a good orator and skilled debater; he could discuss and dissect any topic. He was a bit of a jokester, loved the ocean, fishing, playing music and also enjoyed cooking. He was proud of all his children and grandchildren and would always speak of them. Fritz is survived by his spouse Avery Davis, siblings Osmond Simm, Jean Shaw-Brown, and Basil Shaw; daughters, Sophia Blagrove, Caroline Johnson and Colleen Shaw, son Christopher, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and other family. His daughter Nadine Williams preceded him in death. A celebration of life service for family will be held for Fritz on Fri., Sept. 25th at 11 am. The service will be streamed at https://youtu.be/BVRRfpDgsmA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SOS Children's Villages of Jamaica Foundation https://tinyurl.com/y7ovbj25. My brother Fritz was a smart, brilliant man who was in many cases the smartest person in the room. He was the first in the family to graduate college, and his introverted persona was always on display because he was eager to engage in public and private on any topic. I remember my brother for a book he was writing; a collection of poems, love verses of all his experiences growing up. His exuberant verbosity was so joyful to read. Rest in peace Fritz (Toddy) Davis.

Rest In Peace Dad. Those we love remain with us For love itself lives on, And cherished memories never fade Because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be More than a thought apart, Far as long as there is memory, They'll live on in the heart.
