Frances Marie Botha
1976 - 2024
1976 - 2024
Our SAP team has lost a valued and loved member. Frances Botha passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, surrounded by her husband Thomas and family members.
Her life story serves as an inspiration for many, a testament to her strength, courage, and unwavering spirit. Frances was a truly brilliant HR professional; a wise mentor and supportive friend; a bright spark who was always amongst the first to offer an idea, see the humour in a situation, or just extend a helping hand in a difficult time. Frances spent her career at SAP – two decades across different countries and different roles, building a global network of friends and colleagues and the respect of all who worked with her. Frances always had people at her heart. She joined SAP in May 2002 as HRBP and Head of Learning & Development for SAP Africa, and continued her career dedicated to people, holding various HR roles across EMEA, the US, and APJ. From March 2020, she was Head of Human Resources for APJ, based in Singapore, where she dedicated four years to making SAP APJ the best work culture for everyone. She travelled the world, both personally and professionally, living a rich and full life. Frances set out to visit 100 countries in her lifetime, a goal she achieved proudly last year!
Frances legacy is much more than a collection of dates and places. It is a story of a colleague who lived her life with courage, passion, and her never-ending spirit of adventure, which will continue to inspire many in the years to come. In honour of Frances' life, her achievements, and the impact she has had on us all, we invite you to leave a tribute by sharing some pictures and a happy memories of Frances.
Our deepest condolences go out to Thomas, her Family, and to the many friends and colleagues whose lives Frances touched. Her spirit, boundless energy, and enthousiam, leaves an indelible impact on everyone she encountered.
Our Dearest Frances, Until We Meet Again.

Frances, You inspired so many and were counted as a great friend by many. Thank you for everything you did while you were in Ireland, you shone so bright and left so many great memories for us to enjoy. Here is a throwback to one of our many nights out in Galway, enjoying a bit of merry Karaoke. You are missed, but your legacy lives on. Wishing Thomas & family sincere condolences.

Thank you, Frances, for the light and colour that you brought into my life. Whenever you were in Walldorf office to bring around little presents like coloured Fiesta de la muerte skull from Mexico for me as gothic-rock supporter, or when you joined spontaneously a private music session in Mannheim (photo is from this event) with colleagues you were smiling and so full of energy. I'm happy you lived your life, enjoyed your work and the party of life and not waited for better times to come. So nothing to regret now. I miss you a lot but you are a role model. Rest in peace (or go on with the party from above - I'm wishing you all the best wherever you are know!). Your colleague Andreas

Thank you, dear Frances, for the light, the inspiration, the encouragement, the role model you are. Until today, I keep your words on my very first day at SAP back in 2014: "Renata, you will love it here! I promise you!" At that moment I knew I had made the right decision. Your promise was kept and that meant the world to me. May your kindness and smile continue to inspire many more in this life. Renata

Thought I would share the lucky last picture you took of me in Singapore when we last met. Anyone who spent time with Frances, will attest to her crazy cool energy, incredibly positive outlook on life and an insatiable appetite for more of life's experiences. Thank you Frances for sharing your amazing energy and influence with me. Taken far too early! Sending my sincere condolences to Thomas and family at this difficult time.

Happy Birthday Frances. Thinking of you today. We had a glass of Merlot and laid some sunflowers out at the beach in front of your apartment in Salthill Galway..xx

Frances - where do I begin. Frances was a beloved colleague but moreover an amazing mentor to me. I had the utmost pleasure of having Frances as my mentor and friend, and the value she brought out of me could never be matched in words. Frances taught me to believe in myself and always always believed in the people around her. She trusted her team to get the job done and used her vision as an extraordinary North Star. I will never forget Frances bringing me along for events and forcing me to get out of my comfort zone. She taught me the importance of never fearing and to put myself out there, advice that I will hold dearly for the rest of my life. There was never a dull moment with her - she was always smiling and was always easy to talk to. I’ll miss you Frances, and thank you for everything, from the bottom of my heart. - Adrien Wang
