EARLY LIFE

Fatuma Jebichii fondly known as Fam was born and brought up in Eldama Ravine.

Her loving Late Father Suleiman Kipng’etuny Tomno and Late Mother Mariam Kabon, named her after her prayerful grandmother, The Late Toyoi.

A lively and free-spirited young girl, Fam was the 10th child amongst 11 siblings.

Growing up within a large family, Fam was the darling of the home and had a very personal relationship with every member. This attribute, endeared her to her late mother and earned her siblings a cane or two as she would always leak information of their naughty adventures. Consequently, her siblings kept their mischief close to their chest.

Being the younger sibling, she spent most of her time with her mother. Accompanying her in her day-to-day activities both within the home and community. Through this, fam was exposed to her mother’s philanthropic pursuits especially those of Maendeleo ya Wanawake.

Being equally close to her father, who was then a thriving entrepreneur, she acquired his business acumen and resourceful deftness, which she carried through out her life.

EDUCATION

Fam Boit attended Kabimoi Primary School, and thereafter her secondary education in Bikira Girls, Siaya District. Between 1984 and 1987, she attended the Postal Officer Training Program, Kenya Postal Training College in Kakamega & Nairobi. In 1990, she took an Advanced Apprenticeship Course at Manchester College, UK.

In later years, she has attended multiple seminars and workshops both locally and internationally. She has also trained in wide ranging sectors including, women empowerment (UNWomen), Financial Management and Personal Development. Most recently, she was certified as a Professional Mediator.

HER WORKING YEARS

Fam’s first job was as a Postal Officer at Kenya Postal & Telecommunication Corporation, where she served for 10 years. After which, she took an early retirement.

She then joined her husband, who was pursuing Post Graduate studies in Manchester, UK. Whilst there, she worked at Metropolitan Borough of Greater Manchester. Upon returning to Kenya, Fam took a leap of faith into the business world.

Through the years, she polished her entrepreneurial skillsets, founding several businesses including RAMS Ltd, an authorized distributor for Document Imaging Solutions products and services, amongst other ventures in the long-haul transport, farming, travel, floriculture, and Real Estate sectors.

MARRIAGE

While at Kabimoi, she met the love of her life, Solomon Boit, whom she fondly referred to as King, a play at King Solomon from the bible.

Fam and Solomon were blessed with 4 children. She brought up her children from infancy to adulthood. Her children remember her with great love. There is no moment that they can remember that she was not there. A truly hands on mother.

As a wife, Fam was loving and supported her husband in his ever-rising civil service career. Throughout their marriage they maintained a strong and enduring friendship.

CHRISTIAN LIFE

Fam was born and raised in a Muslim family. In later years after marriage, she would accompany her husband and children to church service. Strongly impacted by this spiritual awakening, she eventually received Christ as Lord and Savior in December 2013 and was baptized in 2017 at CITAM Karen.

At CITAM, she joined both bible study groups and women ministry and was an active participant.

Whenever she would be at their farm in Solian, along with her family, she would worship at AIC Kipkaber or AIC Solian.

In her Karen neighbourhood, she mentored several youths, and regularly stopped by their homes and sometimes taking them for bible study.

Fam served the Lord diligently and emulated the teachings of the Bible in every facet. This was evident, throughout her hospitalization and on several occasions, she would call her bible study group members, to pray for other patients in the Intensive care unit.

She remained steadfast in her Christian faith until her untimely demise.

THE PERSON

Fam was a woman of all seasons, a loyal and dependable soul. She related well with people from all walks of life and left an unforgettable mark to all who met her. A beautiful woman both on the inside and on the outside.

She was resilient, graceful, loving, and unassuming. And as tributes have poured in from people she touched around the world, the family has been humbled by her power and impact.

CHARITY

Inspired by her late mother, Fam pursued her passion for charity, with verve. She joined the Rotary Club in 2012, as a charter member RC Nairobi Karengata. Her dedication to the institution is evident in the positions she has held over the years. She has served Rotary as First Charter Secretary for 2 years, later becoming the first female president in her 3rd year. Then District Chair Rotary Community Corps, District Chair Family of Rotary, Member District Membership Committee. On to DCA Committee Member, District Chair New Clubs Development ‪2019-2020. (Membership Committee) and finally Assistant Governor Central Zone A1-‪2020-2021.

Fam was instrumental in the formation of the first Rotary Club of Enkare Narok and Eldama Ravine.

She was also a Board Member of National Council of Kenya Girl Guides Association, Chairperson Trefoil Guild Baringo Chapter Eldama Ravine, Board Member of Eldama Ravine Education Foundation (EREF), and also served as a board member of Solian Girls High School, among other community humanitarian institutions.

It was the fulfillment she derived from this charitable work, that replenished her seemingly unending reserves for giving.

HEALTH

In March 2021, shortly after a visit to her in-laws in Mau Narok with her husband, she fell ill at her Karen home and was admitted at The Nairobi Hospital. Despite the draining effects of isolation and illness, she took it on with belief and faith in the Almighty. She breathed her last on 25th of April 2021 when the gates of heaven opened for her.

Fam leaves behind her husband Solomon Boit, her children Kemboi and Ida, Sheila and Mercy.

Fam lived a life of helping not only her children, siblings but the entire community. As we bid farewell to her, we appreciate her legacy.

Those we love may depart from us physically, but they live forever in our hearts.

'He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will

say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust". - Psalm 91:1

Writing Fams tribute is a most difficult thing. Fam had a beautiful kind heart, she touched many souls with her kindness and caring nature. A strong woman who passionately shared her transformation to Christianity having come from a staunch Muslim religion to a deeply routed Christian. She demonstrated her deep love for Christian faith by always bringing her family to the Church of Jesus Christ. She always brought her young grand daughter to the childrens bible study. We trust she is smiling with the Angels. Fam has left a rich legacy. We will forever miss you our dearest beautiful sister.

A friend, mother, teacher, sage, cheerleader, healer, leader and more; all in one. Time is supposed to be finite but Gogo Tete was never too busy. She made time for us. Attended our big and small celebrations. Listened and generously provided encouragement and advice for every situation. She commented on facebook posts and replied to whatsapp messages. She gave the warmest hugs and heartiest laughter. Her home was open to all. It was where most of us took our first steps and celebrated our first birthdays. She taught us that the people around us and the relationships we nurture is what matters the most. The beautiful ever stylish jovial queen you saw was a radiation of her kind heart and the disciplined healthy practices she kept. She lived out her purpose fully. She would share the honourable work she was doing, whether with the Rotary or at Church, and offer a way for us to get involved as well. She taught us to be faithful with the gifts and resources God granted us. Gogo Tete inspired us in every way. We will do our best to uphold her legacy. We will dearly miss you Gogo Tete

TRIBUTE TO FAM BOIT Poleni PS Solomon Boit, your children, the families of Kap Boit and Kap Suleiman Tomno, neighbors and friends. I knew Fam from when she was a young girl in Kabimoi as Jebichii Kap Suleiman. I came to know her much more in Nairobi as Mrs. Fam Boit where we shared same interests and aspirations. We were Daughters of Baringo (DOB) members, DOB became active and from there we joined the Trefoil Guild Nairobi branch and majority of the members were from Baringo so we decided to form the Trefoil Guild Baringo branch which was launched in 2013 in Kimalel and Fam Boit was installed as our 1st Chair lady. We became very active and decided we would give back to our roots especially to those in need, in appreciation of what God had done for us. We identified projects to uplift the lives of mothers and children. We used Kimalel campsite Development and training center to mentor girls, train women and also as a Rescue center. Fam hosted our meetings in her Hurlingham office. The Kimalel Development Committee meetings, DOB and others. Fam was full of ideas and suggestions which she offered freely. She spoke openly without fear or favour. All for the betterment of humanity and especially to those in need. She had energy which never exhausted. She would dash into our meetings saying that she had already chaired 2-3 others before ours. She would change the quiet environment into a bubbly joyous one. Wherever we went we looked over our shoulders for her to take the first step to do or say something on our behalf. She was proactive, never hesitated. We got used to that and became dependent on her. She personally went out of her way to assist me physically whenever I needed a hand. She worked tirelessly for the group. Besides giving her time and resources to the community, she still had time for her husband - her soulmate, and to both her families of Kap Boit and Kap Suleiman. She raised and mentored many of them in her house. Mr Boit would move out of his office to create enough space for our meetings. Fam and Solomon had a cordial relationship born out of love and respect. Fam knew so much acquired from the university of life because of mixing with people from all walks of life. Fam naturally attracted the right people eg during inception of Chebaibai foundation and organo meetings she was the centre of attention, we went there in droves. People would ask where Fam worked and I always answered that she worked for everybody not employed by anyone but gave herself freely to work for others. I still wonder how she managed to do so so much in a day - she must have been a good time manager There are many occasions when she was up and down to ensure all went well, to name just a few; at our Trefoil Guild meetings at her office, at KGGA Hqrs, Kimalel, DOB fundraisings where she made sure that there was no hitch, Once at Honorine's home she chatted heartily and wisely and made the Lt. Amb. Kiplagat laugh although he was unwell. Fam you were larger than life. At Hellen Tungo's house when she received Christ as her personal Saviour, thereafter she went on like it was second nature. There was this time when she drove us from Nairobi with an overnight stop at her Solian family home and early the next morning we left for Chemalingot on Beyond Zero Campaign receiving Mrs Margaret Kenyatta, KGGA Patron, delivering medical equipment. On our way back Fam's car developed mechanical problems, eventually we reached Nakuru, Aunty Gladys house, wet, cold and tired. Aunty wasn't in, but Fam with her inexhaustible energy took over. She went to the kitchen made sure we drank and ate. She also made sleeping arrangements. She behaved as though there was no problem at hand. She was an amazing person. Wherever Fam went her presence was felt and she made a difference. Fam you will be missed dearly by your blood families, DOB fraternity, KGGA, Trefoil Guild, Rotary, Chebaibai Foundation, your neighborhood in Baringo and Karen etc where you belonged and contributed your ideas, suggestions and time immensely. Fam how will DOB and Trefoil be without you. We promise to forge on and make it even stronger. We can build a welfare centre/campsite or a 'home' in your memory. This is Do-able. Chebaibai, you made the best use of your time here on earth. You will be missed but we know our loss is Heaven's gain. We know you are already busy in Heaven looking down on us as our guardian angel and guiding Star. Dance with the Angels our chebaibai - Tete Fam. From Tapkili Jeruto
