Our condolences to the Manzo/Torres family! It was such a privilege to have met and come to know such a faithful sister in Jehovah's organization. To see how strong, zealous and loving a woman like Emma was... it only makes us look forward to getting to know her more in Paradise, when we get to see her again. Our love and prayers go out to her family. Thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures and memories of her life and for that encouraging talk on Saturday. We can tell how loved dear sister Emma was. We will continue to pray for you all to keep enduring and remain strong during these times! With love, Guillermo & Margerie Barraza

While you were sleeping After putting some thought into what I wanted to share regarding my grandma so many memories flooded in of my childhood and my youth that I shared with her. Many memories that I wish I could impart with everyone. What I will share with everyone is one story in particular. What I will confer to you is what in the literary world they call foreshadowing, a hint of what is later to come, an expectation of what one could bare witness to. This started with our Saturday mornings when my family and I watched over and cared for her. We had the privilege of having her sit in on our preparation of the Watchtower study, in Spanish. On one of these occasions as she sat there and listened on, she exclaimed loudly, “Sí, el esclavo fiel y discreto!” I excitedly took this opportunity to update her, or even perhaps remind her of this new tidbit of information. Without doubt, in her advanced age and with her memory slowly deteriorating, other members of the family have shared the new phrase. I was too excited! I sat next to her and shared this news. “Mami, la Biblia ahora menciona, ‘El esclavo fiel y prudente’” Here is where the foreshadowing begins, because as I impart these new words to her while holding up Matthew 24:45 the expression on her face will forever be etched in my memory. Her beady black eyes widened leaving her brows lifted oh so high. Her mouth pursed forming a tight O as she looked on at me with astonishment. That I imparted this small bit of information to a lovely, slightly complex woman, who was slowly falling into mild dementia, my grin still reflected her amazement at this. I was able to obtain a taste of a moment in time that is to come with our beloved ones. We will all find ourselves witnessing that very same reaction from our loved ones just as long as we maintain steadfast and loyal to Jehovah. Here I am, finding myself memorizing what is and what will take place, so I may share these with her once more in a more perfect mindset. I know we are inching so close to the end of this system of things we can almost taste it even. We are all losing loved ones every day! How I long for 1 Corinthians 15: 52 to be fulfilled for all of us, “in a moment, in the blink of an eye, during the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised up incorruptible, and we will be changed.” This is what I look forward to in God’s kingdom here on earth, standing alongside her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren so that we may all say to them “Mami, papi, this is what you need to know about what happened, while you were sleeping.”
