I remember a few days before I had heard the news, I was looking through old photos of us and I told myself I was going to reach out to Emily. For a while I got lost and in doing so drifted away from my best friendships. I regret every day I had procrastinated. My heart goes out to Em’s family and loved ones. This was her 13th bday party at her aunts art workshop. Emily loved her weirdo friends, so of course we all made weird creatures, animal hybrids and funny looking animals. The next day we all discovered the movie Carrie accidentally and watched the whole thing as we were so confused what was going on

Flipping through all of our memories and I swear this day feels like it was just yesterday. I had the pleasure of knowing Emily for many years she was one of the first and only true friends I made when I moved to a new school/neighbourhood. Emily was an amazing woman with a heart of gold. She lit up any room she walked into and impacted so many lives. She was never one to judge and found a way to make everyone around her feel accepted and included. I am beyond thankful I had the chance to be apart of your life at some point. It’s an honour to have gotten the chance to know you Em and I would give anything for one more day. I hope you’re now at peace and can rest easy. Please keep watch over me and keep me on a good path❤️

The WASAC community was devastated to hear of the loss of an amazing leader and friend. Emily was everything you could ask for in an employee, coworker, role model, and team member. The children adored her and so did the entire staff. As her boss my heart broke to hear the news of her passing and for her family, friends and teammates as well as all the WASAC staff that were close to her. I loved her creativity and artistic side she was full of suggestions and ideas and was always someone who I could count on during the days of camp. She brought laughter and smiles to many faces the summer she worked with us and would share her dog River with the children and the staff to bring extra joy to everyone's day. With love we say goodbye, hearts heavy we hope she is resting and at peace. Thank you Emily for the memories we will cherish you are loved and missed.

Dear Em, We didn’t get as much time together as I would have liked. Having our last year of junior cut short made it hard, but I am so glad I got to know you and see how beautiful you were. I hope you are resting easy and we miss you so much, you are loved more than you will ever know. Eagles always fly together.

I did not know her long due to our season was cut short but she was a very caring person with a bright smile. Emily made me feel more comfortable with myself as I transitioned from Defence to Forward. Among the others, she made me feel very welcomed onto the team. Our first game I was nervous and very hard on myself, Emily noticed and came to talk to me on the bench. She was an excellent player and I’m truly thankful I got to play with her. I wish there was more time to get to know you. You’ll be deeply missed, Rest Easy Emily
