Liz taught me so much--about nature and about being a truly extraordinary human being. Liz filled every moment of our field trips to Port Aransas with teaching. Not only did she teach the students how to catch and cook fish, how to head shrimp, how to start the pick up by heating the fan belt with a hair dryer, but she taught me how to life a full and generous life. Liz opened her homes and her heart to our family--we were honored when she allowed us to adopt one of Sunny's puppies. Our kids will never forget the week we spent with her and our friends at Port Mansfield. I have thought of Liz so many times in the last few months, as it is now my turn to mentor a new life science teacher. How would Liz have helped? What would she have said and done? I believe her spirit lives on in those she touched. Sharon and John

Jim and I will be forever grateful to Liz for not only opening her Taos home to us, but for opening her heart as well. We feel forever blessed by her friendship. As if it were yesterday, on her back patio she sits in an Adirondack next to the hummingbird feeder. Out of the Taos sunset a brilliant Rufus defends his territory above her head. Liz dodges the Rufus, and the water trickles in her neaby pond. Liz loved her animals, both domestic and wild alike. When asked if there was anything we could do for her as we were traveling through, she would always tell us where the gold fish food was and ask us to check the hummingbird feeder. The animals came first. Her place was a beautiful oasis in the desert, a place she shared with so many. And now she has gone to another Oasis. May the good Lord watch over her family and friends as we deeply mourn her loss. Jim says Liz was one of a kind, and she will always resmain so in our hearts.
