Elizabeth Marie Bergan, 62, of Ocean City, MD passed away on March 25, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Liz was born on March 11, 1962 in Washington DC to Raymond and Mary-Elizabeth Bergan. She is survived by her two children; Rachel (Ruppert) Pavunko, and Kate (Ruppert) Swafford. Liz was “Nonnie” to her two grandchildren; Wesley & Cora Swafford. Also surviving Liz are her three siblings; Patricia Cary, Ann Behan, and James Bergan. Liz was preceded in death by her loving parents. Liz had an energetic spirit and in infectious laugh that made an impact on everyone she touched. When Liz entered the room you knew it, and it wasn’t long before everyone was laughing. She loved all things “beach” and spent most of her life in the Bethany Beach/Ocean City area, spending her time outside on her deck or at the beach with her friends. Liz was always the life of the party, but bravely committed to sobriety and being the healthiest version of herself in 2021. If you were lucky enough to know Liz well, you will know she was a force to be reckoned with and an absolute firecracker. You probably shared some time at the beach listening to Don McLean or Bruce Springsteen, or perhaps heard her karaoke rendition of “Let’s Stay Together.” She was fiesty and wild, with a heart full of love. She lived and loved hard. Liz will always be with her children, grandchildren, and all of the other people with whom she’s shared her vibrant spirit. Although her body is not here with us, all the love and laughter she shared on this earth will remain with those she cared about. Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. There will be a celebration of life on June 28th at Washington Golf & Country Club in Arlington, VA. The family would like to thank Lisa, Glenda, Joey and the entire staff of Intrepid Hospice of Blufton, SC and Coastal Hospice of Salisbury, MD for their outstanding care of our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

My fellow beach loving gal! So thankful for the last three years of us talking on the telephone and catching up. What a force you were - a brave soul and funny as hell. Watch over us, dear one - until we meet again!

I was very blessed to call her my LD wife and best friend! I hope the memories we had just a couple weeks prior to becoming one of my angels. We’ve been through so much together with each other and I still love you more than you’ll ever know to this day rest in Paradise, my friend. “The beach”

Although I hadn't seen Liz for 20 years, and I didn't get to visit her on her turf. We had many conversations and laughs on our phone conversations. Love you forever Liz!!!
