Although we knew Ed for only a little over a year, both he and Karen quickly became very special friends, really more like family. We found them to be the most loving, giving couple that we have ever known. They truly breathed new life into our community. Ed's calm, gentle presence blessed us, not to mention his amazing ability to create the most perfect and delicious desserts. We all deeply miss you, Ed, more than we can ever express. Love to you, Karen, Leah and all of your family, Ed & Beth

Words can't express the sorrow and sadness that came when we heard of Ed's passing. Anyone who has ever met the Solomon's know what a loving and compassionate family they are. You will never meet a more warm and kind couple. Karen, we are so so sorry for the loss of your husband and soul mate and Leah, the loss of your father is profound and everlasting. We know you will take comfort in all the beautiful memories you've shared. May God soothe the sorrow you're feeling right now. We were so lucky to have known a good man. We love you both.

Deb and I were stunned to hear of Ed's passing. After he and Karen had dodged and weaved all of life's obstacles, they were finally able to enjoy a retirement well deserved. We didn't think of Ed as a friend, more as a brother from another mother. We met 25 years ago, backing a tent trailer into campsite at night and this slow calm voice from the next campsite calls out "having your spouse give directions backing in a trailer is the test to a marriage". We shared stories over the weekend and realized we had a lot of common interests and daughter of the same age. From that moment we made a lasting friendship with the warmest, friendliest, and most transparent couple you could ever meet. Whether it had been a month or 5 years since we last got together, conversations would just pick up. We're so glad we got to see Ed and Karen enjoying their new life in Albuquerque, certainly not for long enough but nice to see they made the most of this time together. Ed, we hope you're catching the jet stream in the brightest balloon over the Albuquerque skies, we miss you.

I wish I had a picture of the morning Ed woke me up. He was home from IIT, I was prolly 16-17, in high school. I was asleep upstairs in the attic on oak st. Around 6-6:30 he flipped the light on (usually paps signal that I didn't fill the coal hopper) he came up stairs (the fourth step has a squeak) I woke up to this bear of a brother with the coolest fu man chu I have yet to see the equal of. He had 5inch squirrel tail like extensions off his chin. Coolest ‘stache I've ever seen. I'll think of you offter and smile. Miss you bro!
