Edward A. Jacobson, Ph.D. was loved and respected. One of the things he was known for was teaching others how to use positive psychology and appreciative listening in their businesses and their lives. Ed's book, Appreciative Moments, has helped those who read it understand the power of asking transformative questions. This optimistic, strength-based approach has been the key to remarkable personal and organizational change for so many who knew Ed, worked with Ed, heard Ed speak and/or read Ed's book and other written works. If Ed were here today, he might encourage us with a gentle gaze and a statement such as, "Don't settle for the ordinary when you can have the incredible." He might be wearing a hat that his old friend Dick Wagner gave him that said something like, "Don't do anything stupid." Prior to establishing his own consulting practice, Ed was with KPMG Peat Marwick where he was a Senior manager in Organizational Effectiveness and Change Management practices. He earned an MBA in Health Care and Finance from Wharton, and received his Ph.D. in pscychology from Indiana University Bloomington. Edward A. Jacobson, Ph.D., will be remembered with love and admiration as a psychologist, coach, consultant, trainer, and writer. Members of the Nazrudin Project, a group near and dear to Ed's heart, are encouraged to check NazNet for community-based conversation and to potentially contribute to a special purpose. Ed's wife Jody and son Aman will be sharing additional information on a Celebration of Life in the near future. In 1994, Ed was instrumental in the successful installation of new accounting and purchasing systems for the State of Michigan. His concepts of understanding and managing change guided the entire conversion process. The project team consisted of state employees and staff from three contractors and we worked with the executive, legislative and judicial branches. Through Ed's training and support, we learned a common language that enabled problem-solving through a challenging transition. I've used those concepts in other projects and my life ever since. Amazon has just shipped me Appreciative Moments which I am eager to read. Thank you, Ed. You were a quiet giant for us.

Ed - You entered my life at a time that your wisdom and wit were greatly needed. Thank you for being a guide, sounding board, intellectual fencing partner and keen observer of "what's really important." Thank you for your insight, your generosity and your friendship. Godspeed, my friend.

Ed showed me the power of the positive. "What's new and good with you" is what I opened all my client meetings with until the day I retired. I really admired Ed, and I know he lived well and happily. Blessings on all of us who did our best to help everyone live their best life. If there's an afterlife, I will talk to Ed for hours, years even. Bon voyage Ed. Jake Engle, CFP Retired.

After listening and learning from Ed at an MQ Retreat[the first time we met], I approached him at the final night gathering. I looked at him and asked, "Are you my guide for the next part of my journey?" to which he replied.."I was wondering when you were going to ask." Ed never failed to gently, courageously and with grace prompt, ask and encourage growth, honesty and reality...always charming, witty and remarkable. Rest in peace...
