TRIBUTE TO A WOMAN OF DISTINCTION. I count myself extremely lucky to have come in contact with a quintessential icon as late Lady ...... in her lifetime. I met her in the twilight zone of her life when I became a Nurse Caregiver to her through her son-in-law Prof Bartho Okolo, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka who is married to her daughter, Barr Mrs Nwanneka Okolo. Lady ...... was staying with her daughter and son-in-law, Prof Bartho Okolo at their residence Enugu and I was contracted to render professional caregiving to her on regular basis, a role I was so delighted to perform. She was so diligent in taking her blood pressure and other medications advise each time I came to check them, they were always under control. All her vital signs remained stable at all times and each time I checked them, I would always tease her that her vital signs were like that of a baby and always even better than young people. She would always tell me stories of her working days at Parklane General Hospital, GRA, which is now a Teaching Hospital and incidentally my present ward happened to be the last ward she worked before her retirement. Which retired as DNS. I was with her in the morning of that fateful day when she was traveling to Okoh to attend a funeral and all her vital signs were as stable as ever. Her clinical condition was excellent and nothing suggested that anything was going wrong. It therefore came as a rude shock to me when I was confronted with the terrible news of her sudden demise two days later. What a nasty world we live in. May the Almighty Father grant her eternal life and the family she left behind the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. AMEN. Nurse Carol BIGJOE Nwankwo.

It is with utmost reverence that we commit to the Almighty our dear, H.R.H.Lady Edith Ekwueme. Her period on Earth was a blessing to those that were fortunate to interact with her. I count myself fortunate this year to listen to her soothing, encouraging, warm and calm inducement at the eve of one of my challenging undertakings. We pray that God will find favour with her; and she’ll continue to intercede for us, especially her immediate family among is our distinguished ‘sister’ Princess Dr Ada.. Rest in Perfect Peace, in the cradle of the Lord, H.R.H. Lady Edith. Chief Dr Raphael Awachie
