I started out as a lab tech in Dr. Overman's research projects and was fortunate to spend much time in the field listening to his views on many fronts but most impactful was his love for teaching and advancing science. Dr. Overman took me under his wing as a graduate student mentoring and guiding me through critical thinking skills and research that made the foundation of my career. I will always cherish the field times at Tallahassee, Gretna and the Florida State Prison and the presentation and publishing opportunities he provided. Definitely one of the finest Professors of my college careers!

Dr. Overman was one of the first professors I had in the Agricultural Engineering Department at UF. I really enjoyed his course, not only on the content, but his unique style of teaching. He was passionate about the profession of Agricultural Engineering and really cared about his students. He provided stories and his experiences to back up the lessons he was teaching. He would go on to serve as my advisor on several projects during my time at UF. He also gave me guidance on the courses I should take to enhance my education and prepare me as an Agricultural Engineer. He was a big help to me and I will always remember that. He will be missed.
